Bachelor of Arts – Anthropology Major (3 yrs.)
Minor in Anthropology (Combine with other Major)
Anthropology is a relatively young social
science that lends itself very well to
work with people from diverse cultures.
Experience different world views, and
learn to see the world through the eyes
and the cultures of people from a variety of
backgrounds. This program will equip you
with a broad, in-depth understanding of
human life and relationships, an awareness
of methods, topics, and trends in
Anthropology, and an advanced ability to
think analytically, critically, and creatively.

The Humanities include English Literature,
History, Music, Philosophy, and Theatre.
Using these subjects you will analyze
and study peoples and cultures from the
beginning of time. This program will
broaden your understanding of human
life and thought, give you an awareness
of methods, topics, and trends as well as
an ability to think analytically, critically,
and creatively. Pursue careers in a variety
of fields. Whatever the career, Humanities
helps us to live – and helps others to live –
the truly good life.

Engage culture critically while discovering
there is richness in the artistic endeavors,
symbols, activities, and achievements
of the broader society of which they are
part, even when these appear outside
the doors of the church. This program
prepares students for graduate studies
in both cultural and religious Studies,
strengthens the students understanding of
biblical and historic Christian theological
foundations, and provides the critical skills
necessary to engage culture meaningfully
and intelligently.
Preparing students with fundamental
principles for intercultural service and
cross-cultural work. This program studies
intercultural trends such as nationalism,
revolution, secularism, and urbanization.
Critique and analyze international
development alongside understanding
and embracing our Western culture and
others. The insights and skills learned will
enable you to apply knowledge from both
Theology and Social Science.

I initially chose Providence because one of my parents
attended Providence. The reason I stayed at Providence
was that I appreciated its high level of academics. Attending
Providence helped me become more open-minded. I teach
at a public high school, and I encourage my students to
continually ask questions.

Combining the Humanities and Social
Sciences, the Interdisciplinary Arts are at
the core of classic higher education. This
major is comprised of two of the following
three concentrations: Humanities, Social
Sciences or Mathematics. The subject
matter is people – all human thoughts
and actions in life, all human experiences
and expressions of life. In the Humanities,
study people through History, Literature,
Philosophy, Music and Theatre. The
Social scientific method of studying
people is empirical, combining both
logic and systematic observation which
includes Anthropology, Psychology and
Sociology.
