Mathematics Minor (Combine with other Major)
This program enables students to master
key theoretical tools in Linear Algebra,
Calculus, Discrete Mathematics and
exercise their practical applications to a
wide range of fields. With this program,
you may select an Interdisciplinary major,
or a General Studies major by pairing the
Mathematics minor with a minor from
any one of the following disciplines:
Anthropology, English, History, Music,
Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, or
Theatre. You may also combine the Math
minor with any other major.

All the World’s a Stage! Theatre is endlessly
fascinated with human behavior and
interaction, with human struggles and
achievements. The stage is the place
where students in this program do their
learning and exploring by taking the stage,
working behind the scenes to create the
magic or studying great plays. Gain the
practical and theoretical skills necessary to
facilitate effective, thoughtful involvement
and leadership in professional, semiprofessional,
community, and church
theatre contexts.

Bachelor of Arts – Social Science Advanced Major (4 yrs.)

The Social Sciences include Anthropology,
the scientific study of people in the
context of their whole culture and history;
Psychology, the scientific study of what
happens with the individual person,
mental and emotional; and Sociology, the
scientific study of what happens between
two or more people. Social Sciences seek
to understand people, culture, and society,
both in terms of the human condition in
which they live and the human experience
of life. Students will become aware of
methods, topics, and trends in the social
sciences, and learn to think analytically,
critically, and creatively.
I chose Providence because it offered a Christian perspective.
The courses I took were extremely useful. Without my
knowledge of society, social patterns, gender socialization,
social controls, the distribution of wealth, racial histories I
would not have had a framework for the issues I deal with
on a day to day basis. It was also through Social Sciences
that I realized my passion for social justice.

Develop your critical understanding and
appreciation of human nature, interaction,
and culture through the examination of
sociological theories. Become aware
of methods, topics, and trends in the
social sciences, and think analytically,
critically, and creatively. Learn new ways
of expressing and living out your faith in
our beautiful but broken world, in such a
way that you are able to bring some healing
to it.
