“I did!” Marty replied.
The sky began to clear as the wind
diminished. The shrieking storm suddenly
abated as the sun rose from its ocean shroud.
“It's gone? Just like that?”
The sea had mysteriously turned from a
raging menace into the calm serenity of a
sleeping puppy. In his joyful relief, Marty
grabbed Julie around the waist, holding with
such excitement as to lift her off her feet.
“Marty,” Julie began. “You don't
understand. This isn't over yet.”
Setting Julie back on her feet, he walked to
the stern and took a deep breath of cool
