PD/HEALTH/PE Happenings ...<br />
As part <strong>of</strong> the topic area Sports Medicine YEAR 12 PD/HEALTH/PE students have been studying methods <strong>of</strong><br />
preventing sporting injuries, either by sports policy, rule changes, specific training programs &/or safety equipment.<br />
Students from the YEAR 11 & 12 participated in a health seminar presented by Jane Svensson , a midwife from the<br />
Royal Hospital for Women. <strong>The</strong> students were supplied with important information to help them understand childbirth<br />
and the role <strong>of</strong> health pr<strong>of</strong>essionals in the birthing process.<br />
YEAR 11 PD/H/PE students have upgraded their knowledge <strong>of</strong> <strong>The</strong> Body in Motion, with an exercise class at Fitness<br />
First. Thanks to Karen Bruk-Finucane for her assistance in helping <strong>Randwick</strong> <strong>Girls</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> students benefit from<br />
the free fitness sessions <strong>of</strong>fered by Fitness First, <strong>Randwick</strong>.<br />
YEAR 10 PD/H/PE students are currently being assessed in AFL & Olympic Handball, whilst YEAR 7-9 PD/H/PE<br />
students are involved in developing important physical skills in cricket, soccer, OzTag, basketball & dance.<br />
As part <strong>of</strong> the senior PD/Health Crossroads Program, over 110 YEAR 11 STUDENTS attended the annual camp at<br />
the Jindabyne Sport & Recreation Centre last term. <strong>The</strong> remaining students successfully participated in a compulsory<br />
Crossroads Program <strong>of</strong> Health & Personal Development Seminars at school. (see article)<br />
During the school holidays YEAR 11 ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY students successfully assisted with the<br />
organisation <strong>of</strong> the entertainment program at the Royal Easter Show, as part <strong>of</strong> their compulsory Workplacement<br />
