SYNERGISTIC ACTIVITIES
1. Weaver and Langmuir (1991) presented a widely used program for modeling the
differentiation of basaltic magmas.
2. We have developed the ocean ridge petrology database (PetDB) served over the world
wide web, that both integrates and transfers knowledge to investigators and students.
This work is being expanded to become integrated with other database efforts.
3. I served as an editor of Earth and Planetary Science Letters for 10 years, and was one of
the founders of G-cubed, published by AGU and the Geochemical Society.
4. In 2004 I was a distinguished lecturer for the RIDGE 2000 program, and gave four talks
to small undergraduate colleges around the country.
5. During my sabbatical in 2003 I co-wrote a revised textbook that tried to convey the
excitement of modern planetary science for the non-scientist.
