This one-day course provides information on identifying,<br />

evaluating, and preventing exposures to fall hazards<br />

at construction sites. The goal <strong>of</strong> the course is to<br />

provide small business owners, trainers, foremen, and<br />

employees with information on recognizing potential<br />

fall hazards at their work sites and suggest ways to<br />

avoid, minimize, control, and prevent these hazards<br />

whenever possible. The course focuses on falls to a<br />

lower level rather than falls resulting from slips and<br />

trips. Topics include identifying fall hazards, analyzing<br />

fall hazards, and preventing fall hazards, as well as<br />

OSHA resources that address fall hazards.<br />

Managing Excavation Hazards<br />

Designed as a training course to inform employers<br />

and employees <strong>of</strong> the best practices in trenching<br />

The focus <strong>of</strong> this one-day course is the effective<br />

implementation <strong>of</strong> a company’s safety and health<br />

management system. It addresses the four core elements<br />

<strong>of</strong> an effective safety and health system and<br />

those central issues that are critical to each element’s<br />

proper management. This course has been set up as a<br />

facilitated, interactive training session. Participants are<br />

given small “chunks” <strong>of</strong> information, and then are able<br />

to test their understanding <strong>of</strong> the subject matter via<br />

participant activities and workshops. Several practice<br />

sessions included are designed to increase participant<br />

awareness and enable them to apply what they have<br />

learned when they return to their workplace.<br />

investigation procedures and describes accident<br />

for conducting an accident investigation, employer<br />

responsibilities related to workplace accident<br />

investigations, and a six-step accident investigation<br />

procedure.<br />

Introduction to OSHA for Small Businesses<br />

This course provides an introduction to the<br />

Occupational Safety and Health Administration<br />

(OSHA) for owners and managers <strong>of</strong> small businesses.<br />

The goal <strong>of</strong> the course is to help participants gain an<br />

understanding <strong>of</strong> OSHA operations and procedures<br />

and learn how they can work with OSHA to prevent<br />

or reduce injuries and illnesses in their workplaces.<br />

Included in the course is information on the background<br />

<strong>of</strong> OSHA, standards, the inspection process,<br />

implementing a safety and health program, and<br />

assistance available to small business.<br />

Disaster Site Worker Course<br />

2 days $450<br />

CEUs: 0.8 ABIH CM Points: 2<br />

The Disaster Site Worker Course is a 16-hour<br />

course for skilled construction trade workers at<br />

natural and man-made disaster sites. The course is<br />

designed to develop an awareness <strong>of</strong> incident command<br />

systems and special safety and health hazards,<br />

including CBRNE hazards that may be present at such<br />

sites. In addition, participants in this course will<br />

each complete a performance test demonstrating the<br />

ability to inspect, don, and d<strong>of</strong>f a negative-pressure<br />

air-purifying respirator.<br />
