This train-the-trainer course is for private-sector<br />
personnel interested in teaching the 10- and 30-<br />
hour construction safety and health outreach program<br />
to their employees and other interested groups.<br />
Special emphasis is placed on those topics that are<br />
required in the 10- and 30-hour programs as well as<br />
on those that are the most hazardous, using OSHA<br />
standards as a guide. Course participants are briefed<br />
on effective instructional approaches and the effective<br />
use <strong>of</strong> visual aids and handouts. This program allows<br />
students to become trainers in the Outreach Program,<br />
conduct both a 10- and 30-hour construction safety<br />
and health course, and issue cards to participants<br />
verifying course completion. Students who wish to<br />
participate as authorized trainers in the Outreach<br />
Program must successfully pass a written exam at<br />
the end <strong>of</strong> this course. Prerequisite: Students must<br />
have completed course 510 or have the equivalent<br />
training and five years <strong>of</strong> construction experience<br />
to take this course.<br />

This course presents detailed information on how<br />
the provisions <strong>of</strong> the OSH Act may be implemented<br />
in the workplace. Rights and responsibilities under<br />
the OSH Act, the appeals process, and recordkeeping<br />
are covered. Included are an introduction to OSHA’s<br />
general industry standards and an overview <strong>of</strong> the<br />
requirements <strong>of</strong> the more frequently referenced<br />
standards. This course allows the student to become<br />
a trainer in the Outreach Program, conduct both a<br />
10- and 30-hour general industry course, and issue<br />
cards to participants verifying course completion.<br />

trainers in the Outreach Program or those in the<br />
construction industry who would like to keep current<br />
their knowledge <strong>of</strong> the OSHA standards in 29 CFR<br />
1926. Registration will not be completed until the<br />
participant provides a copy <strong>of</strong> his or her Construction<br />
Industry Outreach Trainer card or certificate.<br />
