HONORING 35 YEARS DONITA PEVERALL SOCIAL SERVICES
DONITA PEVERALL Donita Peverall began her career with the City of Roanoke in 1976 as an intake eligibility worker with the Department of Social Services. Two years later, she was promoted to the position of social worker, and in 2007, Donita was promoted to Senior Social Worker working as a Prevention Services Worker. She served as Chairperson of the Social Services Child Welfare Enhancement Project Committee, under her leadership, the Committee was instrumental in implementing reunification services, increasing the prevention staff and creating a of the Foster Care Transition Worker position. In 2009, Donita accepted the position of Social Work Supervisor, to expand the assist with the expansion of the agency’s Prevention Services Program and she developed the new Community-based Prevention Program with the assistance of out-stationed social workers at the Villages at Lincoln and Jamestown Place complexes. A local judge nick-named her “Wonder Woman” because of her ability to develop successful outcomes for troubled families.
