IN January 2004, Sika acquired the
engineering sealant business from
Wacker whose products ideally
complement Sika’s product range for
facades.
Well-known for its polyurethane
technology, Sika now combines
Wacker’s strength and leadership in
silicone technology, as well. As a
result, Sika hopes to serve the curtain
wall industry as a one-stop sealing
and bonding specialist for
applications on glass, metal and
natural stone facades.
Apart from silicone weatherseals,
structural glazing sealants and
insulating glass sealants, adhesives,
polyurethanes and PU hybrids can
also be offered now, to consultants
and applicators, giving them a wider
choice.
It has become possible, therefore,
to purchase the full range of facade
adhesives and sealants from a single
