Several months ago, we applied to certify our latest device, the Neo. I was 

amazed at the amount of questioning we went through in this process. From 

our environmental and ethical policy and beyond, the jury asked nearly a dozen 

questions to be sure that no children work in our plant and that no dangerous 

materials are used or thrown away in the process. I realize that the much 

of the world is now manufacturing in Asia, while we still manufacture our 

beacons domestically in France. I didn’t have to send any consultants twice a 

year to check that children don’t work 18 hours a day in an environment which 

could be dangerous for them, or to check that no harmful materials are spread 

around the factory. Local laws and standards in France are so demanding that 

we don’t need more certification to verify a safe environment and quality of 

work and product. Manufacturing 100% domestically and in close proximity to 

our markets, is the best ecological and ethical commitment that a company 

could have. 

Il y a quelques semaines, nous avons présenté notre dernier appareil pour un 

award industriel. J’ai été surpris par le nombre de questions, de certifications 

environnementales et éthiques qu’on me demandait. 

Pour évaluer notre politique sur ces 2 points, l’organisation me demandait 

de justifier d’une bonne douzaine d’accréditations différentes, de faire passer 

des auditeurs sur les sites de fabrication plusieurs fois par an pour valider 

qu’aucun enfant ne travaillait sur les chaines de montage, que les horaires 

étaient respectés, ou qu’aucun produit dangereux n’était déversé dans les 

rivières alentours. Je réalise alors que la plupart des 

marques qui postulent à ce concours, ont l’ensemble de leur fabrication en 

Asie alors que nous fabriquons toujours tous nos appareils en France. Non je 

n’ai pas fait passer quelqu’un dans notre usine dans l’est de la France pour 

vérifier qu’aucun enfant ne travaillait sur les lignes de montage, ou que notre 

personnel ne travaillait pas 18 h par jours, car c’est tout simplement une 

EVIDENCE quand vous fabriquez en France. 

Fabriquer en occident, prêt de ses marchés est peut être tout simplement 

la plus grande preuve d’engagement environnemental et éthique qu’une 

entreprise puisse avoir.

FUNCTION 

The Standby function can be used if you are in 

an avalanche situation as a rescuer but you’re 

not searching with your beacon because you 

are probing, shoveling, or communicating with 

rescuers. In any of these situations, you can’t 

be in emission mode and disturb the searching 

process, and search mode will bring more noise 

and confusion. By activating the stand by 

function, the Pro-W can still switch to emission 

mode in case you’re not moving (2nd avalanche).

receiving antennas, two of 

them are used simultaneously 

to catch a signal in the primary 

search. Most of the time the 

2nd antenna’s performance is 

less than the primary one. This 

affects the search bandwidth 

distance with is calculated 

on the worst reception
