THE 2006 SAFETY AND PHILANTHROPY REPORT AOPA AIR SAFETY FOUNDATION: DONOR SOCIETIES The AOPA President’s Council $50,000 (multi-year donation) The AOPA President's Council is general aviation’s most prestigious philanthropic cadre. Membership is extended with a pledge of $50,000 or more, fully payable within five years. Council members meet annually at a private dinner with Phil Boyer and AOPA President's Council Chairman John Nordstrom. AOPA's Top Philanthropists (ATP) $10,000 and above (annual giving) AOPA's Top Philanthropists—affectionately known as "ATPs"—are donors who contribute $10,000 or more in a calendar year. ATP donors may designate their gift to a specific area, to help fund a new initiative, or for the general good of safety and education. AOPA Hat in the Ring Society $1,000 and above (annual giving) Named for the World War I fighter squadron led by legendary ace Capt. Eddie Rickenbacker, this Society recognizes philanthropist-pilots who "throw their hats in the ring" with financial support of $1,000 or above in a calendar year. Bronze ($2500) and Silver ($5000) memberships are also available. AOPA Life Membership Program $2,500 (one-time donation) The AOPA Life Member Program, offered exclusively by the AOPA Air Safety Foundation, is available for a one-time donation of $2,500. Eighty percent is tax-deductible. New life members receive a hand-signed framed certificate from Phil Boyer, a special membership card and pin. The AOPA Air Safety Foundation Endowment Fund $10,000 and above (cummulative donation) Gifts to the AOPA Air Safety Foundation Endowment Fund provide perpetual income for GA safety education programs. You may establish a named-fund with cumulative endowment donations totaling $10,000. Silver, Gold, and Platinum levels are achieved when total funds reach $50,000, $75,000, and $100,000 respectively. CLOSING: AOPA PRESIDENT, PHIL BOYER Measurability is an important part of the culture at AOPA and the AOPA Air Safety Foundation. For example, we measure the efficiency of our fundraising activities and the numbers of pilots we reach. Yet there are measures of success that are harder to put into numbers—the lives that are saved and the accidents that do not happen! There also is the value of the Foundation’s dedicated focus on safety as GA’s most fundamentally important issue. While AOPA battles FAA funding and other matters, the AOPA Air Safety Foundation is devoted to improving GA safety—your safety. Your financial support gives us the strength to maintain and expand that commitment. The strength of the two organizations together is the reason why I say that One AOPA Equals a Safe GA.
