MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
Welcome to delegates of the 2012 World Safety Conference!
The 11th World Conference on Injury Prevention and
Safety Promotion (Safety 2012) is finally here. On behalf
of the Safekids New Zealand team, I would like welcome
all delegates from across New Zealand and around the
world, and in particular to our colleagues from the Safe
Kids Worldwide member countries.
Working in child injury prevention, while very rewarding, can also
be a challenge. This is especially true for those of us who work with
at-risk communities or with vulnerable families and children.
Working in collaboration with the right partners is essential. This is
why Safety 2012’s theme Connecting pathways for a vibrant and
safer future will be of help to child injury prevention workers.
Aside from learning new skills from some of the world’s best injury
prevention and safety researchers, Safety 2012 is also a venue to
make mutually beneficial connections with others who share the
same goals.
We hope that after attending Safety 2012, you return inspired, reenergised
and with new networks, ready to take on the challenge
of keeping your countries and communities safe, particularly for
children.
We look forward to meeting you at Safety 2012, and seeing you
at the Safekids NZ and Safe Kids WW stands (#10 and 14).

Hospital and at Greenlane Clinical Centre.
The signs are located near the crèche in
both sites. We would like to thank Starship
