Conservation of California Sites and Artifacts

As practicing archaeologists, anthropologists, museum professionals, and other cultural
specialists, we are charged with the stewardship of our cultural heritage. Maintenance and
preservation of California archaeological sites, artifacts, and associated documentation is an
ongoing challenge. Professional conservators share this responsibility and should be engaged
in this work. This session will highlight several ways in which conservators can assist in the
recovery and documentation of sites and artifacts and how conservators and archaeologists
can work together to study and preserve our cultural heritage.
