<strong>Supreme</strong> <strong>Court</strong> Employees<br />

Serve in National Leadership Positions<br />

During his annual State of the Judiciary address in September, Chief Justice Thomas J. Moyer<br />

noted that several staff members of the <strong>Supreme</strong> <strong>Court</strong> of <strong>Ohio</strong> and its affiliated offices were<br />

elected or appointed to leadership positions with national court-related organizations during<br />

2009. Chief Justice Moyer pointed to the national leadership positions as proof of the highquality<br />

staff who serve the <strong>Supreme</strong> <strong>Court</strong> and the <strong>Ohio</strong> judicial system and said he was “very<br />

proud of their work.” Staff serving in leadership positions are (pictured left to right):<br />

Jonathan E. Coughlan, disciplinary counsel,<br />

Office of Disciplinary Counsel, serves as<br />

president of the Association of Judicial<br />

Disciplinary Counsel. <strong>The</strong> association works<br />

to improve the effectiveness of judicial<br />

disciplinary organizations and to promote the<br />

professional interests of those engaged in the<br />

field of judicial discipline.<br />

Chris Davey, director, Office of Public<br />

Information, serves as treasurer of the<br />

Conference of <strong>Court</strong> Public Information<br />

Officers. As an organization dedicated to<br />

the role of court public information officers<br />

worldwide, the conference provides training,<br />

networking opportunities and professional<br />

enhancement tailored to the duties of public<br />

information officers.<br />

Stephanie Hess, manager, Case Management<br />

Section, serves on the National Association<br />

for <strong>Court</strong> Management Board of Directors.<br />

As the largest court management professional<br />

organization in the world, the association<br />

provides court management professionals<br />

an opportunity to increase their proficiency<br />

while working with colleagues to improve the<br />

administration of justice.<br />

Steven C. Hollon, administrative director,<br />

serves as president of the Conference of<br />

State <strong>Court</strong> Administrators, a national<br />

organization that represents the top<br />

operational executives of the courts of the<br />

50 U.S. states and six territories. With his<br />

election, he also became vice-chair of the<br />

board of directors of the National Center<br />

for State <strong>Court</strong>s, a nonprofit organization<br />

dedicated to improving the administration<br />

of justice by providing leadership and<br />

technical assistance to state courts.<br />

Amy Reitz, chief deputy clerk, serves on<br />

the 12-member executive committee of the<br />

National Conference of Appellate <strong>Court</strong><br />

Clerks. <strong>The</strong> leadership team oversees<br />

conference operations, develops policies<br />

and procedures, surveys future conference<br />

sites and discusses issues, like further<br />

enhancements to e-filing in court.<br />

Christy Tull, manager of curriculum<br />

development, <strong>Ohio</strong> Judicial College, serves<br />

as president of the National Association<br />

of State Judicial Educators. Dedicated to<br />

improving the education of state court<br />

judges, magistrates and court personnel, the<br />

association acts as a leader in defining the<br />

practice of judicial branch education and<br />

in gathering and sharing resources among<br />

educators.<br />
