Here we are in 2009 already and it’s
been non-stop in this corner of
Scotland. February is LGBT History
Month with loads planned for it, news on the
football team and more this month too!

Firstly to let everyone know that THT in
Aberdeen is open for you to drop in at
anytime for advice, information and free
condoms and lube. They also provide postal
testing kits for chlamydia and gonorrhoea –
these however are not an alternative to
visiting the GUM clinic, so if you are
concerned at all about your sexual health
call the clinic on Aberdeen (01224) 555555.
The Aberdeen LGBT Youth Group is
now meeting up twice a month. For more

Huge thanks have to go to Kirsty and
Lydia at RG:Union for organising the World
AIDS Day fashion show at Foundation. It
was a fantastic night and the models were
all on good form. Lydia’s boyfriend was
very popular with the crowd – sorry guys
he’s not for you! The night raised £230 for
THT Scotland. Also thanks to Hazel, Norma
and Scott from NHS Practitioner Services
for their help at the Rocky Horror Night at
Cheerz raising £250 for THT. If you have

Football Team News
After much discussion, and some
ridiculous and hilarious suggestions,
Aberdeen’s gay football team will now be
known as The Granite City Stormer’s FC.
(Merchandise to follow, haha) Now that they
have a name, look out for the new logo
which is being developed and the brand
spanking new website which should go live
in the coming weeks! www.stormersfc.co.uk
January has been a busy month for the
team. As well as a successful trip to
Edinburgh (pics on the bebo page), they
have officially named the team, had their
first AGM, elected a committee and started
the weekly training sessions! Last Month
the star players went down to Edinburgh to
have a weekend with the Hot Scots FC,
Edinburgh’s gay footy team, and to support
them in a gay league match against the
Nottingham Ball Bois. The weekend was
brilliant fun and they look forward to having
the Hot Scots FC up to the ‘Deen some time

Thursday 15th January saw the team’s
first AGM go with great success. The boys
have made an action plan for the coming
year, and they’ve not held back! 2009 is
going to be a big year for the team. If you
want to get involved but aren’t too keen on
actually playing football, there is plenty to be
done. Volunteers are just as important as
players! Get in touch if that appeals to you.
The first committee members were elected
into a number of posts at the AGM.

Treasurer: Ian, Webmaster: Roy and Normal
Members: Allan and Stuart.
Thursday 22nd February saw the first
training session now to be held every

of fitness and skills training, and a

Aberdeen venues Cheerz, Foundation,
The Market Arms and Wellmans are still
keeping busy despite the credit crunch
kicking in.
Cheerz is open 7 days a week from
4.30pm with drinks promos and
entertainment including the Quiz, which is
back after its much deserved winter holiday
every Thursday night with the queen o’ the
quiz Mike Smith. Following the fabulous
Rocky Horror night in November the next
theme night is Valentine’s on Saturday 14th
February with love songs, karaoke and more
with DJ Steve Motion to get the night going.
Right next door to Cheerz you’ll find the
friendly Market Arms open from 11am-
11pm Monday to Saturday and later on a
Sunday. Join Malcolm and the team for
Karaoke and cheap drink but be prepared for
the usual local bar style banter with the
staff.
Foundation is now offering free entry
most nights of the week. On Friday and
Saturday there still might be a charge for
getting in after Midnight but at £1.50 a drink
before then and drinks promos thereafter
it’s still a great place to end your night out
pubbing and clubbing. Look out for special

Many of the readers that are my
ageor older might remember when the
City Bar was gay with its Village People
mural in the men’s loo’s. It has now reopened
as a very nice café/bar and
restaurant. I have heard loads of good
reports about the food and ambiance of the
place for more information and to download

If you’re not really into pubbing and
clubbing head down to Wellmans Health
Studio to relax and calm your nerves after a
hard day at work. There’s a Sauna, Jacuzzi,
Steam Room, Coffee Area to help you wind
down. You can also find all the scene mags
and leaflets from all of the appropriate LGBT
and Sexual Health agencies. You can find

LGBT History Month
There are a few things planned across
Aberdeen to celebrate LGBT History Month
including displays at Aberdeen Art Gallery
and Aberdeen Central Library, a film
showing at Aberdeen Arts Centre and other
