After a month off, it’s back to what’s
happening in this corner of Scotland. In this
month’s article, GMH Scotland comes to
Grampian, Cheerz brings in more acts and
the sad news of DJ Elaine passing away.
Sexual Health News
Gay Men’s Health Scotland has recently
won the tender to provide services to gay
men in the area. Services will include HIV &
Sexual Health Support, outreach, group
work and more use of social media to target
the right people. They are currently looking
to fill 3 part time positions in the Aberdeen
office which will be based at 246 George
Street. For further

Scene News
Cheerz continues to bring you more acts
with X Factor’s very own 2 shoes coming to
the club very soon! As well as bringing acts
in the local talents of Cherry Bakewell,
Bobbie Dazzler and the delightful Miss Romy
continue to grace the stage with quizzes,
karaoke and Cabaret. Cheerz are always
looking for ideas for more theme nights and
are happy to hire out the club upstairs until
just before its opening time so if you have an
idea or want to host a fundraiser or group do
get in touch with them.
Chaplin’s gets Frantic again on 2nd June
with Jason Cortez and special guests.
Tickets are available at the bar or on the
night. DJ Ross Barney continues the
cheese, chart and dance every Thu at
Chaplin’s too with competitive drinks prices
and student discount to AB-Fab members as
well.
DJ Elaine
As I was typing my article I heard the sad
news that DJ Elaine had passed away. Elaine
gave many a DJ their first chance in venues
across Aberdeen including Cheerz Bar and
Clubs. Steve Motion said, “I’m deeply
saddened by the loss of a true legend, she
gave me my first chance to DJ on the scene
in Aberdeen one Sun night in Caberfeidh

sadly missed”. DJ
Ryan, one member
of the Disco Bus,
said, “A true scene
legend has been
lost - a great DJ
and fantastic person. I will never ever forget
how much good times there have been over
the years with you blasting out the tunes!
You will be missed. Rest in peace, all my
thoughts and prayers to your family and
friends.” On a personal note I remember
being told where to go any time I asked for
Hazell Dean but she always
played it in the end!
Zone Youth
There’s been some great news
for five members of Zone
Youth LGBT+ group in
Aberdeen, they are embarking
on a trip to Norway in Sep to
see what the LGBT community
is like in Stavanger and to
spend some time with
members of LLH Rogaland.

The Colquhonnie Hotel
A small hotel in Strathdon has become the
unlikely venue for the fabulous Miss Lexie
Lush to play at; Lexie would like to thank
Paul for the great hospitality and
atmosphere. I have yet to go and experience
The Colquhonnie but I am sure one of our

A New Group For Scotland!
Another month has gone, and the
weather really isn’t helping our scene! It’s
been raining and pouring but still the music
plays right across Glasgow and our bars and
clubs have been entertaining so many of the
gays that come out!
It’s been a month of disappointment for
me however. I was contacted by the staff at
that amazing bar, Underground, to let me
know of an incident that has happened too
frequently for my liking. Some people have
been putting condoms down the toilets and
flushing - causing blockages and wastage of
all those condoms!
Condoms aren’t free boys! They are
provided in our bars, clubs and saunas in
Glasgow by the wonderful people at Gay
Men’s Health - and they cost them not only
our finest Sterling Pounds but time and
effort of all the staff and volunteers to deliver
them across Glasgow’s scene.
It’s not just the money, or the effort that
Gay Men’s Health put in to make sure you all
have condoms for when you’re taking that
boy home, that make condoms important in
our gay bars and clubs. They are a vital tool
in the work towards preventing HIV and
STI’s. So boys, let’s respect the freebies that
are there to protect our health - don’t waste
them by vandalising toilets or creating head
pieces and make sure you use a condom
next time you’re having some of that bum
sex.
Now, on to the scene - guess what I saw
flying above the Court Bar - it was a rainbow
flag! We’ve definitely moved on from the
past, and the Court Bar, with the help of Tony
and the team are truly putting their mark on
the gay scene as a 100% prime gay bar!
They are putting together one hell of an
amazing line up each week for you gays, so
pop on in, say hi to the nice staff and enjoy
your night!
The Riding Room is still going strong,
with different acts every single night. I’m so
glad that the gays of Glasgow have
embraced this as something new and
exciting on the scene - because it is a great
addition with great entertainment and the
team behind it have
the passion and
commitment to be
giving you great
service every single
night. Bravo!
Speakeasy have
added a new service
to their repertoire
serving food until
3am every Fri and
Sat!!! So, feeling a

Speakeasy - not
that I’m biased - and the Broadway Night
presented by Nancy Clench was just

A special appearance
from a Dreamgirl and a night
of musicals - oh my god -
the gays in Glasgow loved it
that night. I’ve never
seen Speakeasy that
busy!!!! I hear the next
one is on Sun 3rd June
with a bit of Broadway
Bingo and Nancy Clench as Elphaba!
I love old skool music, bopping
my wee head around to Castles in the
Sky and stuff - so Craig, of Speakeasy
fame, whom also loves a bit of the 90’s
has started a whole new night
dedicated to Old Skool Dance! I went along
to the launch of Lucid in FHQ, above
Speakeasy, and it was amazeballs. I’ve not
danced so much in my
life. Get along to the
next one, I hear it’s
free entry - 2nd Fri of
the month!
Now, that’s all I’ve
