§ 79525. Director.<br />

Director means the Director <strong>of</strong> the <strong>State</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Health<br />

Services.<br />

§ 79527. Drug Administration.<br />

Drug administration means the act in which a single dose <strong>of</strong> a<br />

prescribed drug or biological is given to a patient. The complete act<br />

<strong>of</strong> administration entails removing an individual dose from a<br />

container (including a unit dose container), verifying the dose with the<br />

prescriber’s orders, identifying the patient, giving the individual dose<br />

to the patient, and promptly recording the time, method <strong>of</strong><br />

administration, and dose given.<br />

§ 79529. Drug Dispensing.<br />

Drug dispensing means the interpretation <strong>of</strong> an order for a drug or<br />

biological and, pursuant to that order, the proper selection, measuring,<br />

packaging, labeling, and issuance <strong>of</strong> the drug or biological for a<br />

patient or for a service unit <strong>of</strong> the correctional treatment center.<br />

§ 79531. Governing Body.<br />

Governing body means the person, persons, board <strong>of</strong> trustees,<br />

directors, or other body in whom the authority and responsibility is<br />

vested for conduct <strong>of</strong> the correctional treatment center.<br />

§ 79533. Infectious Disease.<br />

Infectious disease means any disease caused by the growth <strong>of</strong><br />

pathogenic microorganisms in the body. It may or may not be<br />

contagious.<br />

§ 79534. Informed Consent.<br />

Informed consent means the voluntary agreement <strong>of</strong> an<br />

inmate–patient or a representative, in accordance with state law, <strong>of</strong> an<br />

incapacitated inmate–patient to accept a treatment or procedure after<br />

receiving material information concerning the treatment or<br />

procedure.<br />

§ 79535. Inmate.<br />

Inmate, as used in the correctional treatment center regulations,<br />

means a detainee or <strong>of</strong>fender who is under sentence to, or confined in,<br />

a prison, jail, or other correctional institution operated by the<br />

Department <strong>of</strong> Corrections, the Department <strong>of</strong> the Youth Authority,<br />

a county, city, or city and county law enforcement agency.<br />

§ 79537. Inmate–Patient.<br />

Inmate–patient means an inmate who is receiving care and<br />

supervision in a correctional treatment center.<br />

§ 79539. Licensed Clinical Social Worker.<br />

Licensed clinical social worker means a person who possesses a<br />

master’s degree from an accredited school <strong>of</strong> social work and two<br />

years <strong>of</strong> post master’s experience in a mental health setting, and<br />

possesses a license as a clinical social worker from the Board <strong>of</strong><br />

Behavioral Science Examiners, pursuant to Business and Pr<strong>of</strong>essions<br />

Code Section 4996, et seq.<br />

§ 79541. Licensed Vocational Nurse.<br />

Licensed vocational nurse means a person licensed as such by the<br />

Board <strong>of</strong> Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technician Examiners,<br />

pursuant to Business and Pr<strong>of</strong>essions Code Section 2840, et seq.<br />

§ 79543. Licensed Marriage, Family, and Child Counselor.<br />

Licensed marriage, family and child counselor means a person who<br />

possesses a master’s degree from a school meeting the requirements<br />

<strong>of</strong> Sections 4980.37, 4980.40 and 4980.41 <strong>of</strong> the Business and<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essions Code and 3000 hours <strong>of</strong> supervised experience in a<br />

mental health setting, who possesses a license as a marriage, family<br />

and child counselor by the Board <strong>of</strong> Behavioral Science Examiners,<br />

pursuant to Business and Pr<strong>of</strong>essions Code Section 4980, et seq.<br />

§ 79547. Mental Health Worker.<br />

Mental health worker means a person who does not necessarily<br />

qualify as a mental health pr<strong>of</strong>essional, but who, through experience,<br />

in–service training, or formal education, is qualified to participate in<br />

the care <strong>of</strong> the psychiatric patient.<br />

§ 79549. Nursing Unit.<br />

Nursing unit means a designated inmate–patient care area <strong>of</strong> a<br />

correctional treatment center which is planned, organized, operated<br />

and maintained to function as a unit. It includes patients’ rooms with<br />

adequate support accommodations, services and personnel providing<br />

nursing care and necessary management <strong>of</strong> inmate–patients.<br />

§ 79551. Occupational Therapist.<br />

Occupational therapist means a person who is certified or eligible<br />

for certification as an occupational therapist registered by the<br />

American Occupational Therapy Association. The occupational<br />

therapist shall be a graduate <strong>of</strong> a curriculum in occupational therapy<br />

approved by the Council on Education <strong>of</strong> the American Medical<br />

Association in collaboration with the American Occupational<br />

Therapy Association.<br />

§ 79553. On–Call.<br />
