PULLMAN CAR brass electric TABLE LAMP from the second class parlour Car № 62. Square base,
4½” x 4½”, 19” tall with a thistle finial on the top. The legend “SC62” is clearly stamped in the
base. The shade, unfortunately, is missing. The lamp has been fitted with a standard 3-Pin
mains plug (not tested). Car № 62 was constructed by the Midland Railway Carriage & Wagon
Ltd in 1927 as a third-class parlour car, but not used for Pullman service until 1928. Employed
thereafter as a non-supplement second-class dining car on the Harwich boat trains until 1939.
Post-war, № 62 was remodelled as a brake car and used extensively on the Eastern Region
before final service on the “Bournemouth Belle.” It was withdrawn in September 1966 and
subsequently scrapped. In good condition.
Realisations £350.00
