Years 7 & 8 Italy Trip
There will be a presentation for parents about the trip on Saturday 11 May at 12 noon in the Dining Hall
Judging from their blog, the sun-tanned and happy group above had a
wonderful time discovering and exploring fascinating ancient sites during
their trip to Italy during the Easter holidays.
Their stay included trips to San Callisto Catacombs, Pompeii, the Naples
Museum, Herculaneum and Rome. Their visit to the volcano, Vesuvius
proved popular (not to mention the authentic Italian gelato and delicious
fresh pizzas!)
“It was really interesting to know that the volcano is active and could erupt.
We also went to Pompeii and we saw the houses they used to live in and the
places they worked. We also saw the plaster moulds of the people who died
in the eruption in 79AD. At the end of the day we went to the beach. The
water was freezing but it was still really fun!” Sian

“I really enjoyed the walk around Herculaneum because it was better
preserved than Pompeii with all the wood so you could actually see what the
woodwork was like . I also enjoyed looking at the fountains in Rome.”

“The gas at Solfatara was really smelly and hot but the guide said it was good
for your skin and the Romans used to go for their health.” Ellie
“We walked to the colosseum and had a look around there. After that we got
a guided tour around Rome and we got to keep the earpiece (yay free
stuff!)” Ollie

Speech and Drama Showcase

All parents, pupils, family and friends are cordially invited to attend an
entertaining evening of verse speaking and acting from our current talented
Speech and Drama pupils.
You may be interested in starting lessons yourself or learning more about
how these sessions do much to encourage confidence in public speaking and
acting.
Many of the pupils who achieved so highly at the recent Bath Festival will be
taking the stage. We hope to see you there.
