1.3 Assess<strong>in</strong>g the likely effects of the<br />
strategy<br />
An assessment of the likely significant effects<br />
of the strategy is be<strong>in</strong>g carried out as part of<br />
its development. For environmental effects this<br />
takes the <strong>for</strong>m of a Strategic Environmental<br />
Assessment (SEA). This is a statutory<br />
requirement which assesses the likely<br />
significant effects of the strategy on the<br />
environment. For socio-economic effects a<br />
similar, non-statutory, assessment of the likely<br />
effects is be<strong>in</strong>g carried out. The results of<br />
these assessments on the draft strategy are<br />
published <strong>for</strong> consultation alongside this draft<br />
<strong>in</strong> a separate document (Annexes 6 and 7).<br />
