Combating Terrorism, Providing Relief<br />

DIA’s experiences in <strong>the</strong> 1990s as well as <strong>the</strong><br />
organizational improvements made to cope with <strong>the</strong><br />
direct threat posed by transnational terrorist groups<br />
such as al-Qaida have enabled <strong>the</strong> agency to provide<br />
enhanced tactical, operational, and strategic intelligence<br />
support to initiatives around <strong>the</strong> globe. Today,<br />
DIA’s assets have unprecedented global reach, and<br />
<strong>Agency</strong> personnel are deployed to <strong>the</strong>aters around<br />
<strong>the</strong> world in support <strong>of</strong> military commands and<br />
operations in <strong>the</strong> fight against terrorism.<br />
DIA’s work is not limited to just <strong>the</strong> GWOT,<br />
however. In addition to its protracted commitments<br />
in Iraq and Afghanistan, <strong>the</strong> <strong>Agency</strong><br />
monitors North Korean missile launches and<br />
tracks <strong>the</strong> development <strong>of</strong> Iran’s nuclear pro-<br />
