Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan failed to respond
to phone calls and a detailed e-mail questionnaire sent to him by POINT
OUT seeking his stand on MPPEB and other related job scams.
involved in the recruitment of
17 constables in state transport
department. These were baseless
allegations without any evidence.
Is it a crime to be the chief
minister’s wife? Will the Congress
hit below the belt just because I led
the BJP for a third-term victory in
the state? Will an innocent woman
be targeted without proof?”
While clarifying his wife’s
involvement, Chouhan read out
to in the House how former Chief
Minister Digvijaya Singh had
given in writing that rules should
be bent to recruit Raghavendra
Singh, a resident of Rewa, as
an engineer in the state PWD
department. Chouhan also stated
how by an order, dated October
10, 1995, the entire family of
former Speaker Shriniwas Tiwari
17
and his son, sitting Congress MLA
Sundarlal Tiwari, were appointed
as teachers in a school in Divni in
Rewa district. The chief minister
also read out a list of about 10 to
15 names of Sundarlal Tiwari’s
family members including Rashmi
Tiwari, Govind Tiwari and Prabha
Tiwari.
“It is true that I had knowledge
about MPPEB irregularities
and that is precisely why we
constituted a probe by the STF.
I received information about an
anonymous letter that was sent
to the Indore police on June
20, 2013 about how imposter
examinees would appear for PMT
examination. The letter had names
of two suspects and I ordered the
police to act on it. The miscreants
were arrested and interrogated.
Would it be possible for all these
arrests to have taken place if this
government wanted to suppress
the MPPEB bungling?” the chief
minister asked the opposition.
Chouhan said that constitution
of the Special Task Force was
ordered by him after which officers,
leaders and all those involved
were arrested. “No matter what
the Congress hopes to achieve by
launching an attack, the guilty will
still be punished. I have repeatedly
mentioned that anyone involved in
the scam are animals pursuing
wealth. Fourteen law suits were
filed in the high court demanding
a CBI inquiry and the court has
dismissed all. The high court has
directed that the STF will work
under its guidance,” Chouhan
added.
