he
scam could not have
been perpetuated without the
knowledge of Dr Trivedi, who
a senior officer privy to most
information about examinations. He
was allegedly recommended for the
top post by Laxmikant Sharma. Trivedi
was arrested in September last year
in connection with irregularities in
PMT and continues to be in custody.
Later, during interrogation his alleged
involvement in other entrance and
recruitment exams conducted by
MPPEB also came to light. Preliminary
investigations suggest, sleuths have
gathered information about Trivedi's
assets, including around 5.5 hectares
of agricultural land, two houses and
one plot of land. Documents found
from his house also suggest that he has
a partnership in a local college.

A
key
accused, Mohindra was
the one who broke logic of roll
numbers and accommodated
students together with whom
a deal was finalized. He got a good
share of money. STF sources said most
middlemen arrested in the medical and
recruitment scams conducted by MPPEB
were connected with Mohindra. It is his
detailed excel-sheet that mentions names
of candidates who used unfair means to
clear the tests and the person or people
recommending them and details of money
taken from beneficiaries. Mohindra
has already been chargesheeted in
connection with a computer purchase
scam. The chargesheet reveals Mohindra
and his colleagues in MPPEB Ajay Sen
and Ashok Mishra, had purchased 78
computers and other equipment and in
some cases, the purchase was made on
double the market rate from a Mumbaibased
firm Shreya.com.
