Promoting Creativity among Tribal Children Creative writing and illustration workshop for students was organised by National Book Trust, India, New Delhi at Shree Sayaji Vaibhav Library, Navsari on 22 nd and 23 rd of July, 2012 in Gujarat. This was the first ever workshop of its kind to be organised in this part of Gujarat. Over 50 students from 24 schools of three districts of Gujarat viz. Navsari, Valsad and Dang participating in this workshop. Two blind students of Andhjan School for Tribal Blinds, Shivarimal, Dang also participated in the workshop. The workshop was coordinated by Mr. Manas Ranjan Mahapatra, Editor, National Centre for Children’s Literature, NBT and Shri Bhagyendra Patel, Assistant Editor (Gujarati), National Book Trust, New Delhi. Shri V Ramanuj, eminent illustrator of children’s books and Smt Lata Hirani, prominent author, provided the resource support and closely worked with the children in the workshop. The writings and illustrations developed in the workshop have been published in this issue of the magazine. The workshop was inaugurated by social activist, writer and the great granddaughter of Gandhiji Smt. Nilamben Yogendra Parikh. On this occasion, Shri Mahadev Desai, Shri Jayprakash Mehta, General Secretary and Shri J.U. Mehta of Shree Sayaji Vaibhav Library and Shri Haribhai Tandel and Siddharth Ramanuj, local artists were also present. 12@uoEcj 2012 ikBd eap cqysfVu
