TEXMACO LIMITED
An ISO 9001 Company
Hydro-Mechanical and Steel Structural Division
A Symphony
in Engineering Excellence
Importance of Hydro Power for targeted growth
‣ Hydro Power represents important source of energy, accounting for some 20% of all world electricity
supply.
‣ Hydro electricity is a clean and renewable source of energy. As per national electricity policy, maximum
emphasis is on full development of the feasible hydro potential in the country.
‣ Hydro Power Potential in the Country:
- Potential - 2,50,000 MW
- Present Capacity - 27,000 MW representing barely 11% of Potential.
There is an urgent need to augment Hydro Power Capacity, GOI, therefore, has launched Hydro Power
initiative for 50,000 MW in May, 2003
‣ Hydro - thermal mix of 50 : 50 in 1960 has come down to 25 : 75 at present against an optimal mix of
40 : 60, resulting a serious imbalance in power system.
‣ Hydro power has distinct advantage over other form of commercial power and is the energy source of
future.
‣ Out of 50,000 MW initiative launched by GOI,around 70% of project sites are in north eastern / eastern
region.
‣ Texmaco is best placed logistically to partner the Government of India in tapping these huge hydel
resources scheduled to be developed in 11 th & 12 th plan periods.
Texmaco’s Growth
• Texmaco has grown to multi-disciplinary engineering complex in last 67
leader in the field of Hydro-Mechanical Equipment, Railway Freight Cars
and Steel Foundry Products.
• It is also a leading producer of Industrial Boilers, Sugar Mill Machinery
and other engineering products to International Standards, significantly
contributing to development of infrastructure of the Nation.
• It has an outstanding success record in execution of prestigious mega
projects financed by National and International Institutions such as
World Bank, Asian Development Bank etc.
Infrastructure Facilities
Texmaco’s role in the field of Hydro Power Sector
‣ TEXMACO LIMITED entered in the field of Design, Manufacture, Supply, Erection &
Commissioning of Hydro-mechanical Equipment by signing a Technical Collaboration
Agreement with VOEST ALPINE of Austria in 1954. Since then, TEXMACO has executed
large number of contracts in India and abroad for Design, Manufacture, Supply, Erection &
Commissioning of Hydro-mechanical Equipment involving different types of Gates,
Penstock, Cranes / Hoists, Trash Rack Cleaning Machine etc.
‣ Over the years, TEXMACO has developed in-house expertise in Design and Manufacturing,
based on CAD and CAM techniques and has erected and commissioned equipment at
some of the World’s most difficult sites. TEXMACO today justifiably can be compared to
the best in the World for these activities, which is quite evident by award of jobs funded by
International Agencies like World Bank, ADB and others.
Texmaco’s Plan to support Govt. of India in
Development of Hydro Projects
CLIENT CAN DEPEND ON TEXMACO BECAUSE:
Texmaco is adequately equipped to carry out work in the
area of hydro-mechanical equipment & steel structure
for the following reasons.
Infrastructure & Facilities
Quality Assurance
On Time Delivery
Project Management
Therefore, a considerable volume of quality work can be
produced within shortest possible time.
Challenge of Hydro Power Development
Constraints:
Corrective:
- Land acquisition
- Environmental and other approval / clearance.
- Law and Order issue.
- Geographical surprises.
- Time and cost overrun because of above.
- Develop a clear understanding of constraints, drawing from
analytical as well as local knowledge.
- Minimise negative impact through appropriate design.
- Residual negative impact to be appropriately mitigated and
compensated.
- Suitable on-going project management and monitoring system
as per requirement.
