Families can combine a train ride on the SVR’s scenic 16-mile track with a range of child-friendly activities. The beach is at Arley weekends in August, for visitors to get playing. SVR’s Steam & Whistle Activity Club, at The Engine House, Highley throughout August, will run for an extra day each week. The four-week programme starts with Arts and Crafts, August 5, 6, 7 and 8. Creative youngsters can be hands-on with a range of workshops, including the chance to make a railway clock and enter a craft competition. They can enjoy a bouncy castle, and face-painting sessions, 11.30am to 4pm. Step back in time to the Jurassic period during Dinosaur Week August 12, 13, 14 and 15. Kids can enjoy dinosaur digs, investigate fossils and find adventure on the Jurassic trail, plus meet the owls and take home a free dinosaur cup.
