Dinghy Sailing Courses
Come and learn one of Great Britain’s most successful Olympic
sports. Sailing is a fun and exhilarating sport that can take you
places.
We run fully accredited Royal Yachting
Association (RYA) courses for junior, youth
and adults.
The RYA scheme is designed to encourage
people of all ages to learn to sail in a fun
Junior / Youth Sailing
and safe environment. You will work
through the scheme at your own pace with
a fully qualified instructor, developing your
skills and knowledge to become a good
dinghy sailor.
Junior Code J, Youth Code Y
Our courses are run during Easter, Whitsun, and Summer school holidays
with 4 day courses for 8-10 year olds & 5 day courses for 11-16 year olds.
During these courses you would be aiming for RYA stage 1, 2, or 3 according to your
development.
Adult sailing
Code D
These courses are run over weekends either Saturday & Sunday or
consecutive Saturdays or Sundays. We can run courses for two or
more people at other times by arrangement.
We run scheduled level 1 & 2 courses, also Seamanship, Sailing with spinnakers,
and Start racing courses on demand.
Introduction to Sailing (for adults only)
Would you like to sample sailing without committing to a course? Then this is for
you. Try the sport for an hour with one of our experienced instructors for up to
2 people at a cost of £40. If you subsequently book onto an Adult Sailing Course
we will offer a 10% discount. For further information please call or email.
Sailability
Sport is a very important part of all our lives and brings enormous physical, social and
psychological benefits. These benefits are particularly important for those people with
disabilities, but often they get to enjoy them all too rarely. Sailing, more than any other
sport, gives us a chance to change this. At Fairlands Valley Outdoor Activities we support
the RYA Sailability Scheme and believe we are well placed to help people with disabilities
take up the sport.
Stevenage Sailability won a Pride of Stevenage Award ‘So Sharing’ in 2011. This recognised
the volunteers for working hard to promote the physical, social and psychological benefits
of sport and making sailing an enjoyable experience for people of different ages with
physical disabilities.

Windsurfing Courses
Minimum age 10
Come and learn this fun and exciting sport
with the modern widestyle stable boards
and lightweight rigs making it easier and
faster to learn.
We run RYA Start Windsurfing courses over
1 day. This course will give you the practical
and theoretical knowledge needed to get
you windsurfing with confidence.
If you are not sure whether it’s the sport
for you, why not have a one hour taster at
the private tuition rate before you book
your course.
These courses are not scheduled but can
be organised for two or more people by
arrangement.
A completed booking form and payment in full for all courses will be required
