Power Boat Courses<br />

Paddle Sport Courses<br />

Adult Code AK, Youth Code K<br />

Minimum age 16<br />

Minimum age 10<br />

The RYA power boat scheme exists to meet <strong>the</strong> needs of those<br />

who use small open power boats for sport or leisure.<br />

This course will introduce you to <strong>the</strong> sport<br />

of power boating, including basic boat<br />

checks, pre-launch checks and power boat<br />

handling skills at both high and low speed.<br />

If you are looking to go on inland european<br />

waterways you will also need to complete<br />

a CEVNI test which we can arrange.<br />

Personal Watercraft Courses<br />

If you have previous experience we run<br />

a direct assessment course for those that<br />

have practical and <strong>the</strong>oretical knowledge.<br />

This course is to assess you against <strong>the</strong><br />

RYA syllabus.<br />

These courses are run by arrangement.<br />

By arrangement<br />

Minimum age 16<br />

If you have your own PWC we can run fully accredited RYA courses<br />

or direct assessments using your own craft. These courses are run<br />

by arrangement.<br />

Welcome to <strong>the</strong> world of Kayaking and Canoeing. On <strong>the</strong>se<br />

paddle sport courses you will learn a wide range of different<br />

paddling skills.<br />

For beginners, <strong>the</strong> One Star course is<br />

designed to give you a fun and entertaining<br />

introduction to <strong>the</strong> sport, teaching you <strong>the</strong><br />

basics of both sports.<br />

The Two Star course is for those that<br />

have already attained <strong>the</strong>ir One Star or<br />

experience equivalent. This course will<br />

teach you to refine your skills, building<br />

on what you have already learnt, with <strong>the</strong><br />

introduction of some basic white water<br />

paddle strokes.<br />

These courses are separated into Youth<br />

(10-16) & Adult courses (16 years and<br />

upwards).<br />

There are scheduled one day courses<br />

which are all run by <strong>the</strong> BCU syllabus.<br />

If you’re not sure whe<strong>the</strong>r it’s <strong>the</strong> sport<br />

for you, why not have a one hour taster<br />

session at <strong>the</strong> private tuition rate before<br />

you book your course.<br />

We can also run courses for two or<br />

more people by arrangement.<br />

Rowing<br />

Taster sessions have been allowed to allow<br />

centres to get people of all ages on <strong>the</strong><br />

water quickly and safely, giving participants<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir first taste of rowing. These sessions<br />

will quickly build confidence and hopefully<br />

get <strong>the</strong>m moving <strong>the</strong> boat from an early<br />

stage of learning.<br />

The Stage 1 and 2 have been designed to<br />

allow participants to develop <strong>the</strong>ir skills<br />

over <strong>the</strong> course of time. Splitting basic<br />

skills in this way, provides participants with<br />

a next step to aim at after completing <strong>the</strong><br />

initial award.<br />

A completed booking form and payment in full for all courses will be required<br />
