St. Croix Valley ALC Credit Recovery - Summer 2013
651-351-8464
Students who will be sophomores, juniors, or seniors during the 2013-2014 school year have the opportunity to
recover credit in English, Science, Math and Social Studies through the St Croix Valley Area Learning Center Summer
Credit Recovery Program. Classes are held at Stillwater Area High School. It is strongly recommended that
students make up their credits during the summer session, as taking additional courses during the school
year can put tremendous stress on the student.
Dates:
Times:
Day and Evening sessions will be offered.
AM Session will run Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday,
from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., July 8 – August 1.
EVE Session will run Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday,
from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., July 8 – August 1.
This session will run if there is enough interest to support hiring staff.
ORIENTATION
Parents and students will be required to attend a program orientation in order for the student to participate in this
summer school opportunity. These will be held June 13, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
June 14, 7:15-8:15 a.m.
Information will be provided as to location.
IMPORTANT ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Students are expected to attend classes until they complete the course. This is not a “drop-in” program.
Students must, and are expected to, regularly attend classes until they finish their assigned course.
If students must miss because of family vacation or other summer commitments, the parent/guardian should
contact the ALC Director prior to enrolling, 651-351-8470.
If a student is ill, the parent/guardian should call the Special Programs Secretary at 651-351-8464.
Students who do not stay on track to meet their target completion date (8-1-13) risk being dropped from the
program.
MEALS & TRANSPORTATION
There are no meals served or transportation provided during the summer.
COURSE EXPECTATONS
The courses will be based on the standards listed for English 9, 10 11 and 12; Science 9, Biology,
Mathematics courses, Geography, World History, US History, Economics and Government.
The program utilizes a web based program called e2020. Because e2020 is a web-based program, students
will be able to work at home or at a local library. This will allow students to move more quickly through the
course, if they are motivated to do so.
Students must meet all attendance requirements and performance criteria to earn credit.
Students who complete the course requirements will earn a grade of “P.” Students who are dropped because
of attendance or who do not complete the coursework will receive an “NG” on their transcript. No “Incompletes”
will be given for credit recovery courses. “Extended Time” is provided within the days of the program.
Students are to conduct themselves in a respectful manner—to the credit recovery teachers, staff, the building,
to their classmates, and to all high school staff who work during the summer. If a student is referred to the
ALC Director because of behavior in class, parents/guardians will be contacted and a determination will be
made as to whether or not the student should remain in the program. Individual teachers will distribute and
review behavioral, academic, and entrance/exit expectations.
