THOUSANDS CELEBRATE AS SAN DIEGO
GAY PRIDE PROUDLY MARKS 40 YEARS:
This year marked the 40th year of Pride in San Diego. Many remember how
it all started and we have three Pioneers to thank for what we have today:
Nicole Muarry Ramirez, Homann, and Jessop. It was not an easy task for
them back in the early 70's. The city would not issue a permit to march,
but these trailblazers, along with about 200 gay and lesbian San Diegans,
marched down Broadway without a permit. Four decades later, here we
stand, San Diego's popular Pride celebration that attracts approximately
300,000 spectators. They say a picture is worth a thousands words so here
are some from this year's Pride. Our San Diego LGBT Pride Center is already
hard at work on 2015 happening in less then 350 days. See you all back here
in July under the Pride flag-- our true colors.
BACK TO SCHOOL
WITH TIGER'S PICTIONARY:
On the first day of school children are excited about going back to school and
seeing their friends. They may forget about caution and safety. We all need
to remember to stay focused and watch for them out on the road! Let's all
drive safely...
Many organizations are having their backpack and school supply events
helping children of all cultures go back to school with confidence and PRIDE.
I'm happy to say that TIGERS PICTIONARY event is just one of the events to
kick off the Back to School effort, with me and my faculty. TIGER has teamed
up with this worth while cause. Join us all at #1 on Fifth Avenue, at 3845
Fifth Ave, in the heart of Hillcrest on August 13th, 2014, 7:30 pm. Backpacks
and school supplies will be collected that evening and the donations of
Pictionary will benefit Family Matters, at the San Diego LGBT Center. Always
remember, Tiger's Pictionary is every Wednesday night at #1 on Fifth.
Tiger and her cubs are always giving back to this wonderful community. It
takes a village with helping hands and a loving heart. Thank you to all th
organizations who give back to our community! I hope to see you all at this
event but if you are unable to attend that night there is a donation box at
Harvey Milk's American Diner, 535 University Ave. SAVE THE DATE: August
17th 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Numbers, 3811 Park Blvd, for the main event and
finale of the Back to School support effort.

WHERE THE TURF MEETS THE SURF
DEL MAR RACE TRACK:
Summer Racing at Del Mar is Thursday, July 17th through Wednesday
September 3, 2014. Opening day was well attended with Hats Hats and more
Hats! Located at Del Mar Fairgrounds, 2260 Jimmy Durante Boulevard, Del
Mar, Ca. 92014. If you're into the thoroughbred racing scene, this is the place
to be. However, the Turf is not just for horses! For those who also enjoy
wiener dog racing as much as horse racing, the Del Mar track will also host
the Wienerschnitzel Wiener Dog Nationals on Aug 30th. The sixteen fastest
pups will compete for the title of Top Dog in San Diego County. The winner
advances to the National Finals. Just an FYI, the Del Mar track opened 77
years ago on July 3, 1937. On Aug. 12, 1938, the track was put on the map
with Seabiscuit’s historic win of a match race.
The San Diego Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are turning 8 years! Thank
You Sisters for all you do for this Community......
