Chief Program Officer
As case managers, receptionists, dock workers,
volunteers and management, we are all very fortunate
to help make a lasting contribution in the lives of
those who come through our doors for assistance.
In the short amount of time that clients are with us,
our desire is to help change lives for those who are
ready to move from just “living life” toward permanent
housing, economic stability and sound mental and
physical health. The road is often tough because
it requires leaving behind negative thoughts and
environments that hinder personal growth. But the
road is not impossible to navigate and change is just
around the corner.
In Fiscal Year 2011:
St. Patrick Center is honored to be a part of that
change. Through quality case management, we
provide several training programs that help adults obtain
employment and education classes for those needing
GED certification. Housing assistance is available for
those who want to move into permanent housing.
Counselors are on hand to help with addiction and
mental health challenges. Other support services such
as the clothing room and food pantry are also available.
All of these St. Patrick Center resources are geared to
positively impact the small window of time we have
with our clients. We are privileged to be a part of helping
adults and families build permanent, positive change.
Rosati Group
Home: The Rosati
Group Home is a
housing program of
St. Patrick Center
with a mission to
serve homeless adults
with severe and persistent mental illness. It is designed to
serve as a therapeutic environment that assists individuals
in stabilization. In FY11, we provided counseling, daily
living skills instruction and 24-hour protective oversight
to 32 clients who are mentally ill. Of the 18 who were
discharged, 11 moved into more independent living
quarters after acquiring daily living skills and stability.
City Seeds Urban Farm: Mentored by Gateway
Greening, St. Patrick Center clients take classes in
horticulture while learning hands-on vegetable production
and landscape maintenance. Since establishing City
Seeds Urban Farm in 2006, 37,000 pounds of sustainably
grown produce has been distributed. In FY11, 33 clients
participated in the City Seeds Urban Farm training.
Mobile Outreach: In 1988, St. Patrick Center initiated
its Mobile Outreach Program to identify homeless
individuals who are living on the streets and may be
mentally ill, substance abusing or both. The ultimate
goal of the program is to encourage persons who are
chronically homeless to access agency programs that will
lead them to permanent housing and financial stability.
In FY11, two full-time counselors, using bikes or vans,
developed trusting relationships with 163 homeless
mentally ill people living on the streets and provided
mental health, psychiatric, employment and financial
guidance services to 60 clients.
Fast Track GED:
St. Patrick Center’s
Fast Track GED
program provides
clients with a fastpaced
curriculum to
help improve their
reading, writing and
math skills, and obtain
their GED. The program was created in 2009 to directly
impact the lives of SPC clients who need their GED
certification in order to obtain employment. Partnering
with St. Louis Community College, the program’s goals
include (1) graduating a large percentage of all who sign
up for classes; and (2) helping the graduates gain either
employment or college campus enrollment in advanced
education. Since the program’s inception, 22 students
have graduated.
