<strong>SUNY</strong>IT Hires Four New Coaches<br />

Kevin Grimmer, director <strong>of</strong><br />

athletics and recreation at<br />

<strong>SUNY</strong>IT, has announced the<br />

appointment <strong>of</strong> four coaches:<br />

Tim Cox, head golf coach;<br />

Peterson Jerome, head men’s<br />

soccer coach; Bill Tylutki, head<br />

men’s and women’s crosscountry<br />

coach; and Mark<br />

Murphy, head lacrosse coach.<br />

Cox has been a member <strong>of</strong><br />

the <strong>SUNY</strong>IT facilities staff since<br />

1984. A graduate <strong>of</strong> Herkimer<br />

County Community College,<br />

where he excelled in golf,<br />

basketball, volleyball and track<br />

and <strong>SUNY</strong> Brockport, Cox will<br />

look to encourage his athletes<br />

to further their athletic and<br />

personal development as he<br />

builds up the golf program.<br />

Jerome comes to <strong>SUNY</strong>IT<br />

after a successful playing career<br />

at Herkimer County Community<br />

College and Ohio State<br />

University. At HCCC, Jerome<br />

coach at HCCC (<strong>2001</strong>), where<br />

he led the Generals to a 12-3<br />

record and was selected Mountain<br />

Valley Conference Coach <strong>of</strong><br />

the Year. Last year, Jerome<br />

served as the assistant men’s<br />

soccer coach at <strong>SUNY</strong>IT.<br />

Tylutki joins the staff at<br />

<strong>SUNY</strong>IT to develop the men’s<br />

and women’s cross-country as<br />

a viable and important part <strong>of</strong><br />

the <strong>SUNY</strong>IT athletic program.<br />

his bachelor’s degree at<br />

<strong>SUNY</strong> Cortland, he began<br />

coaching high school lacrosse;<br />

he has also played and coached<br />

on many area club teams. He<br />

served as an assistant coach last<br />

year at <strong>SUNY</strong>IT.<br />

<strong>SUNY</strong>IT’s Wildcat mascot has a whole new look.<br />

The Athletics Department <strong>of</strong> the State University <strong>of</strong> New York<br />

<strong>Institute</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Technology</strong> has unveiled a new visual identity package<br />

that includes updated Wildcat logos and individual images for each<br />

sport.<br />

“The new Wildcat represents the tremendous changes occurring<br />

in our intercollegiate sports program,” says Athletics Director<br />

Kevin Grimmer. “As a four-year institution, we are poised to aggressively<br />

pursue a new level <strong>of</strong> competitive excellence. The new<br />

look reflects our program’s growing excitement, strength and energy.<br />

Our team apparel, athletics Web site, stationery, scoreboards<br />

and everything related will be changed to include our bold and<br />

fresh new look in the immediate future.”<br />

The creator <strong>of</strong> the new Wildcat image-Phoenix Design Works <strong>of</strong><br />

New York City-is a leader in collegiate design and brand identity.<br />

Since 1985, Phoenix has established a long, award-winning résumé<br />

in pr<strong>of</strong>essional sports as well, including Major League Baseball’s<br />

Marlins, Rockies and Reds, the National Basketball Association,<br />

the National Football League, NASCAR, and the Breeders’ Cup,<br />

among others. Phoenix’s corporate client roster includes Disney,<br />

ESPN, Fox Sports, Coca-Cola and Jaguar.<br />

Sign Up Now for April’s 5k Run<br />

<strong>SUNY</strong>IT’s 9th Annual 5K Scholarship Run is Saturday, April 24,<br />

2004, starting at 9 a.m. The course follows a trail through the<br />

campus, into the woods and out again and past the residence halls,<br />

ending at the Campus Center where a complimentary all-you-caneat<br />

pancake breakfast will be provided by Sodexho Food Service.<br />

Each participant will receive a t-shirt while supplies last. For race<br />
