Director <strong>of</strong> Career Services<br />

<strong>SUNY</strong>IT brings together job-seekers, employers<br />

Hundreds <strong>of</strong> students,<br />

alumni and other job-seekers<br />

joined more than 65 companies<br />

local, regional, national<br />

and international at <strong>SUNY</strong>IT’s<br />

Career Fair 2003 Oct. 9 in the<br />

Campus Center gym.<br />

The annual event is one <strong>of</strong><br />

the largest <strong>of</strong> its kind in the<br />

State University system.<br />

Participating employers took<br />

part to fill internship, parttime,<br />

and full-time opportunities;<br />

current <strong>SUNY</strong>IT students,<br />

alumni and other<br />

interested attendees dropped<br />

<strong>of</strong>f résumés, hoping to make<br />

career connections.<br />

Among the companies recruiting<br />

at Career Fair 2003<br />

were: Albany Medical Center<br />

Hospital, BAE Systems,<br />

Eversan Incorporated, Fiber<br />

Instrument Sales, FleetBoston<br />

Financial Group, Masonic<br />

Home, Orion Bus Industries,<br />

PAR Government Systems<br />

Corporation, Resource Center<br />

for Independent Living, and<br />

Utica National Insurance<br />

Group.<br />

This year, an effort was<br />

made to increase the participation<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>SUNY</strong>IT alumni.<br />

“Increasingly, employers are<br />

relying on Career Services as<br />

a resource for experienced<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essionals in addition to<br />

the more traditional entrylevel<br />

hires,” says Career<br />

Services Director Dr. Thomas<br />

Matthews. “Alumni interested<br />

in attending Career Fair found<br />

employers <strong>of</strong>fering pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />

advancement as well as<br />

opportunities to make a<br />

career change.”<br />
