First Freshmen Put <strong>SUNY</strong>IT in the Spotlight<br />

new at the region’s colleges.<br />

And this fall, they found plenty<br />

<strong>of</strong> material at <strong>SUNY</strong>IT.<br />

Reporters and photographers<br />

from Utica, Rome, and<br />

Syracuse newspapers, as well as<br />

Utica-Rome TV and radio stations,<br />

focused on the arrival <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>SUNY</strong>IT’s first class <strong>of</strong> freshmen.<br />

The Syracuse Post-Standard<br />

published a feature on the<br />

first day <strong>of</strong> classes with quotes<br />

from President Mason H.<br />

Somerville, two staff members,<br />

and two freshmen. The Utica<br />

Observer-Dispatch shadowed a<br />

freshmen on his first day <strong>of</strong><br />

classes and published the results<br />

the next day. WKTV previewed<br />

the start <strong>of</strong> the semester,<br />

sending a crew to the last<br />

Orientation session on the Friday<br />

before classes started.<br />

the semester continued with<br />

radio and TV reports on Convocation<br />
