The 10 Bad Habits of Online Students and How to Address Them<br />

Successfully.<br />

This presentation is designed to gain a better understanding of<br />

some common habits of online learners. We will review the 10<br />

most common counterproductive learning habits and discuss how<br />

to address them in the creation and delivery of online courses.<br />

Topics include: computer literacy, course orientation, passivity,<br />

expediency, perfectionism, superficiality, educational criticism,<br />

competitiveness and more. We’ll also take a closer look at several<br />

positive strategies to increase online participation and retention.<br />

Most importantly, you’ll learn how to incorporate these strategies<br />

successfully.<br />

Special note: This workshop will take place online on a Sunday<br />

afternoon when most of you will be at home. If you plan to attend,<br />

please send a request for a link to the presenter a day before or<br />

the morning of the workshop. Send the request to<br />

jsalvado@sunyrockland.edu. The link you receive will place you in<br />

a virtual classroom with a chat room on the left and a Power Point<br />

presentation on the right. To participate in the audio portion of<br />

this presentation, your PC must be equipped with speakers and<br />

microphone/headphone.<br />
