Networking Event Sells Out!
The Importance of Early Registration and the Value of MPI Events
After months of planning, MPI-CAC’s April 11th
event, “Connecting the Dots…Demystifying Foods,
Cultures and Traditions,” sold out two weeks in
advance to a very satisfied crowd, highlighting the
increasing popularity of MPI events and the importance
of early registration.

A joint effort of the Networking and Diversity Committees,
the event was geared towards networking
and education. Attendees sampled various food stations
and received a take-home booklet that focused
on different religious, dietary and cultural cuisines.

MPI-CAC events are increasingly popular! Chapter
members who would like to be a part of a 2007-
2008 networking event (i.e., hosting a venue) are
encouraged to contact the Networking Committee
now. All members are encouraged to register for
upcoming events early to secure their place.
The event co-chairs, Karen Guenther, CMP of Meetings
& Incentives, and Mary Friel, of Four Points by
Sheraton, O’Hare noted, “We reached record-high
attendance and had to turn people away at the door
because they were not registered.” This was due in
part to early planning and the mutual marketing
efforts of MPI-CAC and HSMAI (Hospitality, Sales
and Marketing Association International), which
brought in attendees from its “Affordable Meetings”
event at Navy Pier.
Kudos to event sponsors who include; Kelly Neilson of
The American College of Surgeons, who offered the
unique Murphy Auditorium as the venue; HSMAI,
who helped promote the event to their attendees;
and to Michelle Wierzbicki, with Jewell Events
Catering, who created a fabulous menu to complement
a “multi-cultural” theme.
