Glock 21
Pre-Review Comments:
I have to come clean on this gun review. Most of the
guns I review on TacticalTim.com are guns that have been
purchased by me primarily for the purpose of reviewing
them for you. However, this gun has been in my personal
arsenal for almost five years. I have run well over 5,000
rounds of ammo through this gun. It’s NOT perfect but I
know every thing about this Glock 21. Okay... now you
know were I’m coming from. Let’s get started!!
Quality, Fit & Finish:
This gun is classic Glock function over form when it
comes to quality, fit and finish. What do I mean by when
I say this? Well, let’s just say that I think Glock’s are ugly
guns... but if I could only take one gun into a gun fight, this
would be the gun.
Heck, some would argue that the olive drab frame on
this Glock 21 only makes it uglier. I actually kinda like the
contrasting colors.
Okay, back to quality, fit and finish. This gun may be
ugly but the design and assembly is executed flawlessly. All
plalstic components are molded flawlessly from high-quality
tooling. Glock uses a ferritic nitrocarburizing process to put
that cool black finish on their slides. “The final matte, non-
This extended slide
release is a MUST
for this gun.
The SureSight “pyramid” is an interesting
sight that I like a LOT. The
sight picture comes very naturally.
You just complete the pyramid and
“BAM” you’re on target.
glare finish meets or exceeds stainless steel specifications,
is 85% more corrosion resistant than a hard chrome finish,
and is 99.9% salt-water corrosion resistant.”**
The bottom line is that while the Glock may not be the
most attractive handgun, it is a well-made and brilliantly
engineered gun.
The original Glock packaging is LONG
GONG since I’ve owned this gun for
almost 5 years. So you’ll just have to
pretend this is a picture of my G21 in
the case with the crappy bore brush
that Glock includes with their guns!
Ergonomics & Shootability:
As you can see from the pictures, I changed the standard
Glock sights to a sight from a small company called
SureSight. You’ll either love or hate these sights... I think
they’re great. You just complete the triangle and you’re on
target. They’re kind of expensive so I recommend you try
them out before you buy them.
If I could change one thing on this gun, it would be the
grip size. The Glock 21 is NOT made for people with small
or even medium-sized hands! My hands are JUST big
enough but it would still be nice if the grips were just a little
bit smaller.
Finally, be SURE to get the Glock extended slide release
for this gun. That standard slide release is so small you’d
need a microscope to see it!
Reliability & Accuracy:
As far as accuracy goes, this gun shines. It was easy to
keep all my rounds within a 1.73” circle at 21 feet. I have
put thousands of rounds through this gun and have never
had a problem. The Glock 21 may be an ugly handgun, but
it sure does work well.
Concealability:
The concealability rating is determined by the formula below. The lower
the number the better! Cfactor = (LxWxTx(loaded weight))/(7*π)
This gun gets a concealability rating of 5.738 which is
not bad considering this is a full size handgun. I’ve actually
carried this gun concealed in the appendix position on
numerous occasions. I don’t think it would work very with
a tuckable holster, but it IS concealable.
Conclusion & Summary:
While the Glock 21 was NOT designed specifically
for concealed carry, I’ve proven that is very accurate and
extremely reliable gun. And with a sturdy untucked shirt,
you CAN conceal this gun without too much trouble.
If my memory serves me correctly,
the good folks from Glock included
two, thirteen round magazines
when I originally bought this gun.
Things I LIKE:
¨¨Very accurate.
¨¨Super reliable. I’ve shot 1000s of rounds through this
gun and it’s never had a problem.
¨¨I think the OD frame looks cool.
Things I DONT Like:
¨¨The standard Glock slide release needs to be replaced.
The extended release which you can see on my gun works
a LOT better.
¨¨The standard Glock sights are fine, but the SureSight
sights I put on are a lot better.

Now that’s what I call a nice
tight group.
