Glock 36
Pre-Review Comments:
Okay, I have to warn you. All of my concealed carry guns
reviews are completely independent and un-biased in the
sense that these gun companies do not give me anything for
doing this. Heck, I buy all of these guns myself... just like
you’d have to!
HOWEVER, I have to admit that I am a little biased when
it comes to the Glock 36. Why? Well, because it’s the gun
that I’ve carried for over 5 years. Yes, the good old G36 has
been my trusty companion for a long time.
Nontheless, I will do whatever it takes to provide a good,
no-bullshit review.
Quality, Fit & Finish:
No complaints in this department. Well, at least none
anymore! Yep, I’ve managed to fix all the things that were
wrong with the original design of the Glock 36. Hah... I bet
if Gaston Glock was reading this right now, he’d have steam
coming out of his ears!
So here are the three things that you’ll need to do to
make this the perfect concealed carry gun. First, you have
to replace the stock magazine plates with PEARCE plus
zero grip extensions. I know that sounds weird but the stock
glock magazine plates allow for a huge gap that catches
I replaced my standard Glock
sights with the XS Express sight.
This sight has a wide rear “U” that
makes for a super-fast “Dot-the-I”
sight picture.
I’ve got XS Express Sights on my
Glock 36. I LOVE these sights.
Tiny little slide-lock lever.
I’d recommend replacing
this with the extended
slide lock lever.
XS Express sights.
Great slide serrations.
I love this “thumb
rest” area on the
frame.
This is a PEARCE “pluszero”
grip extension. This
is a must have for the G36.
The G36 grip is fantastic.
Room for all three fingers
and the stipling is just right.
your pinky finger every time. The Pearce Grip plus zero
extensions do a perfect job of fixing this problem. Second,
you’ll want to replace the stock Glock sights with sights
that don’t suck. I put the XC Express sights on mine. Much
better!
And finally, you’ll want to replace the slide-lock catch
lever with the Glock extended slide-lock lever. I have NOT
yet done this on my Glock 36 but I have made this change
on my Glock 21 and it makes a WORLD of difference.
Other than those three minor changes, the Glock 36 is a
well made handgun.
Ergonomics & Shootability:
It’s hard to beat the ergonomics of a Glock. While I do
think the Glock “Safe-Trigger” is ridiculous, it doesn’t take
that much to get used to it. And the best part about the Glock
trigger is that it has such a tiny reset... so it’s very easy to get
multiple shots off.
The mag release button functions flawlessly and the mags
drop free every single time. And finally, the Glock 36 is a
whole lot easier to filed strip when compared to the Kahr
PM45!
Reliability & Accuracy:
The reliability of the Glock 36 is second to none. Having
carried this gun for 5+ years, I’ve had VERY few failures.
I think I’ve experienced only 2 or 3 failures to feed while
practicing and I’ve put thousands of rounds through this
gun! As you can see from the target on page three, accuracy
is not a problem with the Glock 36.
Concealability:
The concealability rating is determined by the formula below. The lower
the number the better! Cfactor = (LxWxTx(loaded weight))/(7*π)
This gun gets a concealability rating of 2.793 which is
pretty good. The Glock 36 utilizes a single stack design
which keeps the overall thickness way down. The G6 is also
a very popular handgun so you’ll easily be able to find a
holster system that works for you.
Conclusion & Summary:
You just can’t go wrong with this gun. Even if you don’t
make my recommended modifications, it’s still a solid gun.
The Glock 36 is very reliable, the manual of arms is super
simple and it’s easy to conceal.
Glock brush for cleaning
your barrel.
Extra 6 round
magazine.
Handy mag loader. This
will aid in the health of
your thumb!
Things I LIKE:
¨ I love the reliability of the Glock 36.
¨ I love the accuracy of this gun.
¨ I love concealability of the G36.
¨ I like the short trigger reset distance.
Things I DONT Like:
¨ I wish Glock would get rid of the stuped “safety bar” in
their triggers. It’s just plain dumb.
¨ If you buy this gun, be sure to replace the sights, slide
lock-catch and the magazine plates.
Well, my trusty old Glock 36 managed
to keep the rounds within a
3.125” circle from 21 feet.
