Report of TBAISD Services Received 2008-09<br />

Professional Learning Opportunities<br />

TBAISD offers multiple professional development workshops and trainings each school year. This district<br />

participated in the opportunities identified below. State Board - Continuing Education Unit (SB-CEU) credits<br />

are made available for attendance at most workshops. College credit may be offered when possible.<br />

Consultation and On-Site Delivery of Service:<br />

General Education Consultants provided a variety of local and regional Professional Development programs and<br />

services to local districts. TBAISD consultants were available to meet with local districts for staff meetings, Board<br />

of Education meetings and <strong>School</strong> Improvement meetings. Assistance was provided in the development of local<br />

district improvement plans, data review and school planning, and curriculum development.<br />

A regional Leadership Academy was offered to all districts in August focusing on Robert Marzano’s Instructional<br />

Strategies and the Art & Science of Teaching. Marzano’s presentation provided a focus for continued<br />

discussion about Professional Learning Communities, effective instruction and also supported our region’s implementation<br />

of the TBAISD pacing guides and writing prompts.<br />

RSDD continues to focus on the essential questions of Professional Learning Communities:<br />

Curriculum - What do students need to know and be able to do?<br />

Assessment - How will we know they have learned it?<br />

Instruction and Intervention - What strategies work for all students and what will we do for<br />

students who have difficulty learning?<br />
