Report of TBAISD Services Received 2008-09<br />

General Education (continued)<br />

•All districts were represented on a Regional Assessment<br />

Committee that developed a Regional Assessment Plan<br />

and outlined necessary long-term development of a Data<br />

Director (Data Warehousing) initiative, accompanying<br />

professional development in assessment practices for instructional<br />

decision-making and bulk purchases of local<br />

district assessments.<br />

• Teams of educators began development of blended<br />

instruction through MOODLE. Effective on-line learning<br />

practices and the initial development of regionallyavailable<br />

courses to be hosted on the TBAISD MOODLE<br />

server were introduced.<br />

• NMLC funds were utilized to develop Social Studies<br />

and English/Language Arts assessments.<br />

• Each local district was represented on the Regional<br />

Staff Development Board, Superintendents’ Association,<br />

Technology Consultants Advisory Committee, Elementary<br />

and Secondary Principals’ Associations, and the Regional<br />

Assessment Committee.<br />

• TBAISD staff and teachers/administrators from local<br />

districts collaborated on a variety of grant proposals –<br />

beginning developments of Project ReImagine and a<br />

number of early childhood education initiatives.<br />

• TBAISD consultants regularly participated in a number<br />

of local district professional learning communities and<br />

met with principal and superintendent groups as consultants<br />

on instructional leadership, curriculum and assessment.<br />

• TBAISD purchased a 3 year site license for your district<br />

to access CareerCruising.com, a career exploration and<br />

educational development planning tool web site.<br />

Services planned for the upcoming year are based<br />

upon local district and TBAISD review of data sources,<br />

local district improvement plans, Superintendent and<br />

Principal Association goals and future Project ReImagine<br />

goals.<br />

Leadership Development & Administrator Support<br />

TBAISD Administrative and Instructional Services<br />

staff provided regular leadership development and<br />

administrator support through monthly meetings of<br />

the TBAISD Superintendents Association, Elementary<br />

Principals Association, and Secondary Principals Association.<br />

TBAISD staff also facilitate regular monthly<br />

meetings of the local district business office officials<br />

and the local technology directors. Additional support<br />

for administrators is provided through the spring<br />

and fall leadership retreats, MDE <strong>School</strong> Reporting<br />

and accreditation assistance, the annual Leadership<br />

Academy, ISD resources for Leading PLC and <strong>School</strong><br />

Improvement Teams, and the online collaborative<br />

SharePoint sites hosted by TBAISD and available to all<br />

area administrators.<br />

Regional Curriculum & Assessment Development<br />

TBAISD hosted a variety of curriculum development<br />

work sessions in the areas of writing, English Language<br />

Arts, science, and mathematics; to develop pacing<br />

guides and common assessments, align curriculum,<br />

create rubrics and checklists and identify supplemental<br />

and web-based instructional materials. Sessions offered<br />

included:<br />

• Grades K-6 Literacy<br />

• Pre-K through 2nd grade writing<br />

• Grades 3 - 5 writing<br />

• Grades 6 - 8 writing<br />

• Grades 3 - 8 math & Grades 7-12 math<br />

• Grades 9 -12 English Language Arts<br />

• Grades 5 -12 science<br />

• K-12 blended instruction & course development<br />

technology<br />

Curriculum materials, pacing guides and assessments<br />

developed during these work sessions have been<br />

posted on the TBAISD web site for local district and<br />

classroom use. All participating teachers received<br />

instruction on valid and reliable assessment design and<br />

interpretation with follow-up support to teachers on<br />

using assessment results to differentiate and improve<br />

instruction to students.<br />

Data Management and Analysis<br />

General Education also provides achievement data<br />

management and analysis. Your district received:<br />

• Report of district MEAP performance across<br />

four years and comparison to state and all other<br />

regional schools.<br />

• Specific disaggregation of achievement data on<br />

demand.<br />

• Support to elementary staff in assessment of early<br />

literacy and a reporting format to track student<br />

literacy progress.<br />

• Facilitation and planning with administrative<br />

associations for a regional performance<br />

management system.<br />

For the 2008-09 school year, General and Special<br />

Education ISD staff have collaborated in providing<br />

support for the regional assessment plan, AIMSWeb<br />

benchmarking & progress monitoring, Data for Student<br />

Success (D4SS) reporting, and Kindergarten Readiness<br />

Assessment.<br />
