5) Oestrogen levels. Estradiol is usually
normal in PCOS, but estrone levels (which
are rarely measured) are elevated because
of peripheral conversion. Levels are variable
in other causes.
6) Increased production of cortisol:
It is associated with Cushing syndrome.
Diagnosis is made by 24-hour urinary-free
cortisol excretion.
