Appendix 4 ECOTOURISM AND THE QUEENSLAND GOVERNMENT Growing Tourism Initiative Implementation of the Queensland Ecotourism Plan 2003–2008 will achieve several of the Growing Tourism initiative’s key actions relating to tourism in protected areas, impact monitoring, accreditation, best practice guidelines and community involvement. Master Plan for Queensland’s Parks System Implementation of the Queensland Ecotourism Plan 2003–2008 will contribute to achieving the vision of the Master Plan, particularly in the areas of conserving natural and cultural values, establishing working partnerships, enhancing visitor opportunities and experiences, sustaining commercial and community services and assisting park planning, management and resourcing. State Infrastructure Plan Infrastructure actions in the Queensland Ecotourism Plan 2003–2008 will be coordinated through the State Infrastructure Plan – Implementation Plans. Queensland Cruise Shipping Plan Implementation of specific actions in the Queensland Ecotourism Plan 2003–2008 will contribute to providing for a more effective, efficient and equitable tourism regulatory system (including permits and environmental operating standards) in marine protected areas along the Queensland coast that will allow for the sustainable growth of cruise shipping in Queensland. 39
