Dr. Lee Boon-ying (left) is not only an expert in climate but also a 

scientist with a lasting interest in music. We first met a few years ago 

when he came to RTHK’s Broadcasting House for a Music Beyond 

Borders concert. Recently, he also attended the 50 Years of Enchanting 

Music Concert, and was in the audience at the RTHK Quartet First 

Anniversary Concert. 

From February, Dr. Lee will add airwaves to wind speeds among 

his interests as he appears in Four for Classics in a segment entitled 

Sunny Intervals (in Cantonese). Tune in for his climate-related music 

selections. The first four episodes are on Chopin’s music. 

Along with other Chopin lovers, Dr. Lee may find it particularly 

gratifying to tune in to Tuesdays’ <strong>Live</strong> on 4 this month when we bring 

you four concerts from the 65th Chopin International Piano Festival 

held in Poland in August. The line-up of pianists appearing in this 

special series includes Dong Thai-son, the first Vietnamese winner of 

the Chopin International Piano Competition; the most recent winner of 

the competition, Russian pianist Yulianna Avdeeva; and two performers 

who are familiar to Hong Kong music lovers: Sa Chen and Rachel 

Cheung. 

Another major music event to listen for is coverage from the Aspen 

Music Festival. From the small city in Colorado, we bring you 

performances given by great musical talents including violinists Julia 

Fischer, Joshua Bell, the Takács Quartet, the Brasil Guitar Duo, and 

more. That’s <strong>Live</strong> on 4 on Wednesdays. 

On the subject of talent, one way to help realize your talent in piano 

playing, and cultivate your interest in listening to piano music, is by 

tuning in to RTHK’s unique and long-standing ABRSM review, Piano 

Exams. Please refer to the timetable on the left for this year’s broadcast 

schedule.

Flashback 



Just a week before Christmas Day, Hong Kong experienced a cold 

spell. You can imagine how grateful we were when the beautiful 

sunshine gave us warm weather on Christmas Eve, letting an 

audience of over seven hundred sit comfortably in Hong Kong Park 

Olympic Square, enjoying Radio 4’s festive Christmas Concert in 

the Park. 

This concert opened with the tranquil Air on the G String, played 

by the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong (CCOHK) under Jean 

Thorel. They continued with the exuberant Brandenburg Concerto 

No. 3 in G major. The orchestra was joined by the Radio 4 Festival 

Chorus, comprised of more than 60 members from the Hong Kong 

Young People’s Chorus and the Hong Kong Youth Choir, in three 

religious Bach choral excerpts – ‘Sleepers Awake’, ‘Zion Hears the 

Watchmen’s Voices’, and ‘Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring’. 

Two soloists also gave charismatic performances. Soprano Yuki Ip, 

a familiar face to our Christmas concert audience, sang the heart- 

warming arias ‘Sheep May Safely 

Graze’ and ‘My Believing Heart’, 

and the flautist Sibei Weng’s first-time 

appearance in our concert received 

warm applause in her performance 

of the virtuosic solo part in Bach’s 

Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B minor. 

Following these Bach pieces, the 

musical banquet ended with a favourite 

dessert in a new flavour–The Christmas Medley. In the 2010 medley 

of six popular carols, arranged by English composer Bill Connor, the 

performers and audience alike joined together in the sing-along and 

shared Christmas joy with each other. The encore piece, the beloved 

‘Hallelujah Chorus’, with the surprise addition of fireworks, brought 

the concert to an outstanding finale.

聖誕節前一星期 , 香港吹起凜冽的寒風。平安夜當天 , 卻有和煦的陽光帶來溫暖的天氣 , 讓超過七百名觀眾安坐於香港公園奧林匹克廣 

場 , 聽著巴赫的音樂在林中迴盪。 

今年聖誕園林音樂會由尚 • 托勞帶領香港城市室樂團演出 , 首先以寧靜平和的《G 弦上的詠嘆調》開始 , 接著有活潑開朗的 G 大調第三布 

蘭登堡協奏曲 ; 亦有香港青唱及香港新青年合唱團一共六十多位成員 , 組成第四台節日合唱團 , 演出三首宗敎氣氛濃厚的合唱曲 ─《沉睡 

者醒來吧》、《錫安已聞守望者的歌聲》和《耶穌 , 世人渴望的喜悅》。 

台上還有兩位魅力非凡的演出者 : 載譽歸來的女高 

音葉葆菁以甜美的歌聲 , 帶來詠嘆調《羊兒將安然 

吃草》及《我忠誠的心》; 技巧高超的長笛演奏家 

翁斯貝在 B 小調第二組曲中擔任獨奏 , 同樣獲得觀眾 

熱烈的掌聲。 

這場音樂盛宴的甜品 ─《聖誕套曲 2010》─ 壓軸登 

場。英國作曲家康納以巴赫管弦樂的樂團編制 , 將 

六首流行的聖誕頌歌編成高潮迭起的合唱曲 , 讓全 

場觀眾以歌聲祝賀佳節快樂。最後 , 加奏曲《哈利 

路亞大合唱》伴隨璀璨奪目的煙花 , 將今年的音樂 

會帶到高潮。 

縱使煙花一瞬即逝 , 但願巴赫的喜悅留在觀眾心 

裡 , 伴你展開新一年。

English countertenor Michael Chance has enjoyed a dual success, winning praise for his captivating 

performances in both opera houses and concert halls. Jonathan Douglas reached him by phone before his 

debut concert in Hong Kong and they began by talking about his performances in Baroque repertoire. 

J : Jonathan Douglas 

M : Michael Chance 

J : Are Handel operas the cornerstone of your repertoire? 

M : Yes, in a way. It’s interesting to speculate about what 

countertenors and other singers who have a lot of exposure 

and experience in the earlier repertoire are expected to do. 

If you are good at singing Bach, or ecclesiastical music, it 

doesn’t necessarily follow that you’re able to strut your stuff 

on the theatre stage, and sing an opera aria by Handel or 

other mainstream opera composers in the same way. It’s 

much more theatrical. I’ve been lucky to have had wide 

exposure in both aspects of music making. I’ve done a lot 

of Bach and productions of Handel operas, very traditional, 

stylized but also very interesting modern takes on the 

musical, mythological, or historical stories which tend to 

be what Handel operas are based on. Handel operas are 

great in concert because you can bring the flavour of each 

scene to each aria and try to create an atmosphere people 

can get involved in- I think Handel does that brilliantly. 

A musical feast till midnight – ‘jolly hard work’ 

J : You mentioned the theatricality of Handel opera, and the 

word ‘fun’. Is it great fun performing Handel? 

M : Yes! It’s also jolly hard work! One of the last operas I did was 

at the State Opera of Munich where they have an amazing 

Handel tradition- probably of all the opera houses in the 

world, it has got nearly 12 Handel operas in their repertory, 

leaving aside Monteverdi, Cavalli, and Rameau. It’s been a 

huge success, and they have mounted lavish but also very 

modern, interesting and challenging productions. There, 

especially in the summer, they start their performances 

quite late at about half past eight at night. 

Typically a Handel opera has three acts, and originally 

each act would have lasted roughly the amount of time 

it took for the candle of the theatre to burn down, and 

with each act, they put new candles in place. So each act 

of a Handel or Baroque opera tends to last a little over 

one hour. So you’ve got three hours of music, and two 

intervals - they start at eight and you’re still going strong 

at half past twelve at night which is well past my normal 

bed time, of course! Often the big aria comes right at the 

end, so it’s pretty tiring stuff, but it is fun because you 

can improvise - the first part is always repeated and then 

embellished to a greater or lesser extent by the singer. 

The tradition of using high male voices 

J : This sort of roles that Handel gives the countertenor, are 

they usually a certain kind of heroic character? 

M : Yes, but I would stress countertenors never would have 

sung originally in Handel operas. In fact countertenors 

are a 20th- and 21st-century phenomenon: they are a 

modern representation of voices which would have been 

used in earlier times, such as the castrati. The roles given 

to the high male voices tend to be either the heroic lead 

or the love interest. Often there are two parts in a Handel 

opera which are originally ascribed to the high male voice, 

and can be sung by a whole range of voices nowadays. 

Countertenors have become so popular especially in 

opera now they have to revert it to the tradition of using 

high male voices. 



the role of Ottone is quite challenging. It’s the biggest 

part but it’s sort of a passive character-one is sort of 

buffetted around by powerful women, and loves the 

nastiest of them and is loved by the nicest of them, and 

can’t choose between them….. 

J : That seems to have modern resonances, doesn’t it?

M : Exactly. I’m also singing ‘Ombra mai fu’, which starts 

the opera Serse. It’s is a tribute to a plane tree so we 

need to have a prop on the stage. ‘Ombra mai fu’- 

‘Never was a shade’ is so wonderful, and ‘Vivi, tirano’ 

of the opera Rodelinda is full of fire, fury, vengeance 

and bravura. It is a virtuoso aria which is hard, but 

good fun. 

J : How did you choose the particular arias for this particular 

concert? 

M : Looking for balance, things which work well with 

orchestra. For example ‘Cara sposa’, is one of the truly 

great Handel arias: long, very emotional, very rich. I have 

an incredibly strong memory of when I did a production 

at the opera house in Lisbon, São Carlos, singing the 

number two role, and the main role, Rinaldo, was sung 

by an amazing Spanish mezzo called Teresa Berganza. 

I remember her on a dark evening just with an upright 

piano, the répétiteur, and the Italian stage director, nobody 

else was in the theatre and I was sitting at the back of the 

stall, just watching. She sang this aria, with no audience, 

in an unaffectedly true and honest way, and I thought that 

is my goal, just to aim for that.

‘The relationship of Orfeo and Euridice… 

a married couple trying to make it work’ 

J : Do you have a favourite Baroque operatic role? 

M : Orfeo ed Euridice, an opera by Gluck, suited me a lot. It’s 

a very hard opera that’s worthwhile doing. It’s full of ballet 

music, so it’s not a crossover, but it bridges two worlds. 

It’s got the famous aria ‘Che farò senza Euridice?’ which 

everybody who likes classical music probably knows. The 

relationship between Orpheus and Euridice works very 

well with modern audiences - a married couple trying to 

make it work. So Orpheus is a part I like doing very much.

The 65th International Chopin Piano Festival in Duszniki Zdój, Poland, 

was held between 6-14 August 2010. The festival’s 9 days were filled 

with concerts, recitals, and master classes featuring a range of Polish 

and international artists. This year’s festival was held as part of the ‘Year 

of Chopin’, a series of events marking the 200th anniversary of the birth 

of the Polish Romantic composer. The festival also commemorated the 

200th anniversary of the birth of another great Romantic composer, 

Robert Schumann, and the 150th anniversary of the birth of Polish 

composer and pianist Ignacy Jan Paderewski. 

‘The International Chopin Festival in Duszniki Zdrój is special first 

and foremost because this is the oldest piano festival in the world, not 

only the oldest one devoted to Chopin.’ 

‘An enormous asset of the Festival in Duszniki is its intimate character. 

We do not have a new, contemporary concert hall. What we do have is 

something we keep boasting about and which is greatly respected by the 

performers, namely the stage where many years ago, in 1826, Fryderyk 

Chopin performed himself. This wins our Festival great respect and 

prestige. There are very few events of this type which can boast a richer 

and longer tradition.’

As always, the festival showcased a number of young, exceptional 

talents, who have already earned themselves recognition winning 

prestigious competitions around the world, including Russia’s Yulianna 

Avdeeva (winner of the 16th International Chopin Piano Competition 

2010), Hong Kong’s Rachel Cheung (who participated in the 2010 

International Chopin Piano Competition, took 4th prize at the Leeds 

International Pianoforte Competition in 2009, and 2nd prize at the 

2008 Alessandro Casagrande International Piano Competition) and 

Russia’s Denis Kozhukhin (First Prize winner of the Queen Elisabeth 

International Competition 2010 and winner of the 2009 Vendome 

Prize in Lisbon) .

Set in the awe-inspiring majesty of the Colorado Rockies, the Aspen Music Festival is a summer festival of more than 320 

events. Concerts take place at the 2,050-seat Benedict Music Tent, the world’s first concert facility that combines the openness 

and romance of a tent with the acoustic integrity of a concert hall, the beautifully restored Victorian Wheeler Opera House, and 

the Harris Concert Hall, as well as in churches and other halls around Aspen. 

The theme of the Aspen Music Festival 2010 was ‘The Magic Years’, with a focus on repertoire created in the first decade of the 19th, 20th and 21st 

centuries, all of which were periods of unusual innovation and productivity. 

Musicians who performed at the 2010 festival included violinists Joshua Bell (with the 

Aspen Chamber Symphony directed by Nicholas McGegan), Julia Fischer, and Robert 

McDuffie, who gave the U.S. premiere of Philip Glass’ Violin Concerto No. 2 , entitled 

‘American Four Seasons’ which had been inspired by Vivaldi’s ‘Four Seasons’. Ensembles 

included the Takács Quartet and Time for Three, the groundbreaking, category-shattering 

string trio that transcends traditional classification, with a unique blend of elements of 

classical, country western, gypsy and jazz idioms. 

Tune in to hear these artists and the Brasil Guitar Duo who are equally at home on the 

Classical or World Music scene and whose innovative programming features a seamless 

blend of traditional and Brazilian works. Along with flautist Marina Piccinini, they perform 

works by Villa-Lobos, Douglas Lora, Jacob Do Bandolim, Pixinguinha and Piazzolla.

波蘭小鎮杜什尼基 – 兹德魯伊以天然温泉聞名 , 在當地舉行的國際蕭邦鋼琴節更是 

世界上歷史最悠久的鋼琴節 , 每年吸引無數資深樂迷參與其中。原來年青的蕭邦曾 

於 1826 年到過杜什尼基 — 兹德魯伊旅行兼療養 , 並舉行慈善演奏會 , 為當地播下音 

樂種子。自 1946 年至今 , 一代又一代的頂尖鋼琴家均以能夠在國際蕭邦鋼琴節中演 

出為榮。 

第六十五屆國際蕭邦鋼琴節於去年八月舉行。其藝術總監巴利卓尼形容 , 雖沒有簇 

新亮麗的大廳 , 但音樂節的主要演出場地 – 蕭邦府 – 留下蕭邦曾親身演出的獨特背 

景 , 這一點足以讓人自豪 ; 而音樂節那親切互重的氣氛最使人感動 !

Two Hong Kong Musicians 

Play a Part in the 

YouTube Symphony Orchestra 2011 

101 musicians have been selected for the YouTube Symphony 

Orchestra 2011, with two members coming from Hong Kong. 

As in 2009, musicians were chosen from an online global audition, 

conducted via YouTube. This year, players from more than 30 countries 

will join forces to create the YouTube Symphony Orchestra. It is made 

up of both amateur and professional musicians aged between 14 to 

49. Hong Kong violinists John Ma and Mark Hui will be flown to 

Sydney to join the other orchestra members for a week of rehearsals 

and master classes from 14-20 March 2011. The performance will 

be held at the Sydney Opera House on 20 March, under conductor 

Michael Tilson Thomas. 

Violinist John Ma was born in Macau. He is a graduate of the HK 

Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) and the University of Cincinnati 

College-Conservatory of Music. He has a busy teaching schedule both 

in Hong Kong and Macau. Violinist Mark Hui is a second year student 

in the HKAPA’s Bachelor of Music (Honours) Degree programme. This 

summer, he joined the Asian Youth Orchestra and became its first Hong 

Kong concertmaster. We wish all players a fruitful musical experience

Our February listing offers a German cabaret style social satire, a passionate Italian romance, a grandiose 

Russian epic, and a Shakespearean comedy set by a great Frenchman. 

6 February : Weill’s Die Dreigroschenoper 

This work, The Threepenny Opera, is a political and social satire 

expressing the ideas developed by the great German dramatist 

Bertolt Brecht, who had collaborated successfully with composer 

Kurt Weill (1900-1950) previously in several projects, including 

the cabaret-opera The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny. 

Brecht’s approach directly involves the audience and forces them 

to reflect on existing social conditions. 

Weill’s music draws on cabaret, jazz, dance rhythms, and folk 

music. The opera consists of 22 distinct numbers of songs, ballads, 

ensembles, and instrumental interludes. Spoken dialogues 

alternate with recitatives and sung parts in the tradition of the 

German singspiel. The plot is adapted from the 18th-century 

English ballad opera The Beggar’s Opera by John Gay. It tells of 

the loves and adventures of the robber MacHeath and the social 

outcasts of London.

13 February : Puccini’s Manon Lescaut 

This is the third opera by Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924) and his 

first international success; it had its première in 1893 at the Royal 

Theatre of Torino. 

The subject came from a famous novel by Abbé Prevost that had 

also inspired Massenet’s Manon, produced in Paris only a few 

years earlier with resounding success. 

Defending his decision to risk such a close comparison, Puccini 

pointed out that “Massenet treated the subject as a Frenchman, 

with grace and refinement. I shall treat it as an Italian, with 

desperate passion.” 

In this recording, soprano Miriam Gauci sings the role of Manon 

Lescaut, who is torn between her love for the young Chevalier 

des Grieux, portrayed by tenor Kaludi Kaludov, and the luxury Postcard printed by Ricordi for the première of Manon Lescaut on 1 February 1893.

The story ends with Manon’s deportation to Louisiana, where she dies in the arms of her lover in the desert outside New Orleans. The 

performance was recorded with the Radio Television Philharmonic Chorus and Orchestra of Brussels conducted by Alexander Rahbari.

20 February : Mussorgsky’s Khovanshchina 

Modest Mussorgsky (1839-81) was the most talented and 

original composer among his contemporaries of the Russian 

national school. Yet he was also the most undisciplined 

one. His innovative and often brilliant musical ideas were 

not always supported by technical competence nor the 

necessary degree of concentration and persistence. His 

final opera, the great historical drama Khovanshchina 

(The Khovansky Affair), was left unfinished. His publisher 

commissioned Rimsky-Korsakov to complete and edit the 

work for performance in St. Petersburg in 1886. The score 

was revised by Ravel and Stravinsky for the Diaghilev 

company’s performances in Paris in 1913. In Soviet Russia, 

a new version was prepared by Shostakovich for the Kirov 

Theatre of Leningrad in 1960. 

Conductor Claudio Abbado combines the best of all 

these versions in a carefully selective way with the aim 

of representing Mussorgsky’s original creative intensions as 

faithfully as possible. He is ably assisted by a team of gifted 

singers including Aage Haugland, Vladimir Popov, Paata 

Burchuladze, and Marjana Lipovšek; with the Vienna State 

Opera Orchestra and Chorus joined by the Vienna Boys 

Choir and the Slovakian Philharmonic Choir, Bratislava.

27 February : Berlioz’s Béatrice et Bénédict 

Hector Berlioz (1803-1869) was France’s foremost composer of large-scale symphonic and orchestralchoral 

works, possessing a vivid imagination and a high order of original genius which was not 

widely appreciated and little understood during his lifetime. He composed three operas, including 

the grandiose Benvenuto Cellini and the gigantic two-part Les Troyens, compared to which his last 

work in this genre, Béatrice et Bénédict, is of a modest proportion and is much more accessible. 

The plot is based on Shakespeare’s comedy Much Ado About Nothing, and the libretto was written 

by Berlioz himself drawing from the comic and sunny sides of the play. It tells the story of a young 

couple who believe matrimony to be a weakness before being overcome by the irresistible attraction 

they feel for one another. 

Our protagonists are Janet Baker, mezzo-soprano, and Robert Tear, tenor. The John Alldis Choir and 

London Symphony Orchestra are conducted by Colin Davis.

任職天文台 , 熱愛音樂的李本瀅博士不時在「台長網 

誌」上跟大家分享他聆聽古典音樂的心得。由二月開

十三集「音樂風雲變幻時」會嘗試帶出音樂與大自然的共

昏、夜晚或拂曉的意境。但音樂中段往往來一個轉變 , 令我

I have been doing a great deal of travelling recently. In fact, I am writing these words from a hotel room. In 

the month of February, I will be taking a musical journey on the Theme and Variations programme…several 

journeys to be precise. The overarching theme for the month is ‘On the Road’ and I will be exploring the 

different musical approaches taken by various artists to travel and to thoughts of far off places. 

Composers throughout history have looked to foreign lands for inspiration, by borrowing folk tunes or musical 

idioms, as in Édouard Lalo’s Symphony Espagnole, or by capturing the very essence of what it is to be in a 

new place and the necessary juxtaposition of perspectives that brings, as with George Gershwin’s classic tone 

poem An American in Paris.

I will also be looking at more abstract approaches that have been taken to travelling, as in Hector Berlioz’ 

telling of the story Harold in Italy. This four-movement extravaganza featuring an extensive solo part for the 

viola was itself inspired by Lord Byron’s poem, ‘Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage’. Berlioz wrote, ‘My intention 

was to write a series of orchestral scenes, in which the solo viola would be involved as a more or less active 

participant while retaining its own character. By placing it among the poetic memories formed from my 

wanderings in the Abruzzi, I wanted to make the viola a kind of melancholic dreamer in the manner of 

Byron’s Childe-Harold.’ 

Further along this path of abstraction lies Gustav Mahler’s first song cycle Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, 

which has a rather fanciful title in English, Songs of a Wayfarer, but Austrian musician, humourist and 

broadcaster Fritz Spiegl has noted that the German ‘Geselle’ in the title more accurately means ‘journeyman’. 

This fits neatly into my theme for the month, and also reflects the autobiographical nature of the music - for 

as a young composer and conductor, Gustav Mahler had to travel extensively whilst polishing his skills. A 

further layer of complexity in this music is that it deals with internal, emotional distances as well as physical 

travel as it was written upon the conclusion of Mahler’s love affair with soprano Johanna Richter, who he met 

at the opera house in Kassel while he was on the road. 

It’s going to be an intriguing month in the Theme and Variations programme. From the obvious, yet still brilliant 

New World Symphony of Antonín Dvořák and inspired settings of Hungarian dances done by Brahms, I will 

head out on paths less frequently travelled as well. The Gypsy Songs of Pablo de Sarasate will be matched 

by the vocal ensemble Anonymous 4 singing North American Spirituals. Orpheus in the Underworld, as 

imagined by Jacques Offenbach, will be paired with ‘The Wild Rover’ as performed by the Celtic Tenors. 

Gustav Mahler 

Music that was written by a composer based upon real-life travels, such as the Serenata Arabe of Isaac Albeniz 

will serve as the bread and butter of the Theme and Variations programme this month, but I plan to take things 

in a more conceptual direction at times too with Charlie Landsborough’s ‘Movin’ On’ and lighten things up 

with jazz offerings such as Eugene Pao’s ‘Round Trip’. 

Of course, the logical place for me to conclude the ‘On the Road’ theme and variations series is in outer 

space. The music of John Williams, among others, will find a place in the programme lineup to be sure. So 

pack your suitcase and join me in February’s Theme and Variations programme ‘On the Road’!

Arrivederci Samantha!

You will know the presenters who share with you the masterpieces of music on Radio 4, but what you may not notice are the 

staff working ‘behind the scene’ who have devoted themselves to supporting the smooth run of programmes everyday. 

Samantha Char, our production assistant, is one of those who work behind the 

scene. However, if you have been to Radio 4’ concerts in the past 2 years, you 

might have seen her activities. If you have called Radio 4’s enquiry hotline, you 

may even have talked to her. 

Samantha once told me that her most unforgettable memories of Radio 4 was 

the Christmas Concert 2008 – A World Christmas. At that time she had just 

recently joined Radio 4, and was required to take part in the production meeting 

of the event. She had no idea what a ‘production meeting’ was for! She soon 

knew what it was and needed to take care of many concert-related matters. This 

whole new experience was, in Samantha’s view, quite tough for her, but she 

was having lots of fun in the process as well as learning a great deal about radio 

work. It impressed her so much that she wanted to participate in more concert 

productions of Radio 4. 

Samantha has a degree in translation and speaks Italian fluently. After working 

at Radio 4 for two and a half years, she felt ready to meet new challenges and 

is returning to the world of languages. When this article is published, she will 

have left Radio 4 and will be working hard in her new position related to her 

translation profession. On behalf of the colleagues of Radio 4, we wish her 

every success in her new job.

電台每日不停運作 , 除了咪前的節目主持人外 , 幕後的一班同事實在 

功不可沒。過去兩年多 , 車思敏辛勤工作 , 成為第四台廣播的強大後 

盾。執筆當日是她在第四台工作的最後一天 , 我跟她作了一個極簡短 

的訪問 , 聊聊她在第四台的體驗。

R.. 原來你已經在第四台擔任製作助理兩年多 , 時光飛逝 , 我以為你 

去年才加入 ! 

S.. 是嗎 ? 兩年多以來認識到許多電台的運作 , 這些對我來說 , 都是 

十分新鮮和難忘 ! 

R.. 其實 , 你以前有否收聽第四台呢 ? 

S.. 我自小愛聽收音機 , 不同的節目也聽 , 尤其喜歡在晚上將收音機 

放在枕邊 , 聽著音樂入眠。第四台 …… 我過往並不常收聽 ; 但在 

這裡工作後 , 差不多每天都聽 , 不僅要聽第四台的節目 , 也要檢 

查所有節目的安排 , 以及協助製作和更新第四台的網頁。 

R.. 你在第四台當製作助理的感受如何 ? 

S.. 很忙碌 ! 要處理各種各樣的文件 , 還要參與一些從來未接觸過的 

工作 , 例如支援錄音和錄影製作 , 有時要直接「落手落腳」充任 

攝影和道具製作等 ; 還有各種聯絡工作 , 由聯絡嘉賓主持安排 

錄音場地 , 到聯絡各國嘉賓領事 , 邀請他們出席第四台的活動等 

等 , 想來實在非常有趣 , 亦讓我學習到不少新知識。 

R.. 吃午飯時 , 我問過大部份同事對你的印象。 

S.. 真的嗎 ? 

R.. 嘻嘻 …… 料不到他們全都很欣賞妳的工作表現 , 而且很捨不得你 

離開。 

S..( 大笑 ) 噢 , 就是說只有你不欣賞我嗎 ? 

其實這裡像個大家庭般 , 我也很喜歡這裡的工作和同事。但人總 

要向前看 , 不可以一直停留在同一的位置 , 我也想到外面闖闖 , 

嘗試不同的生活方式。 

R.. 我相信以你的工作熱誠 , 在不同的崗位上也可以得到很好的成 

就 , 請別忘記收聽「四台插班生」哦 !
