Journalism (B.A. or B.Sc.)<br />

The journalist’s role is to tell society’s stories to help citizens<br />

better understand their world. The new fully integrated <strong>Trent</strong>-<br />

Loyalist Journalism Program prepares graduates to be informed,<br />

critically-aware, and technically skilled journalists. You will<br />

earn a joint-major honours (B.A. or B.Sc.) degree in Journalism<br />

and another discipline of your choice from <strong>Trent</strong>, as well as an<br />

Ontario college advanced diploma in Journalism (Online, Print<br />

and Broadcast) from Loyalist College. Your degree and diploma<br />

can be completed together in four or five years of full-time study.<br />

Media sTudies (B.A.)<br />

Through your education in Media Studies you will engage with<br />

complex questions about society and the media. Learn what<br />

it means to be “media literate” today and how contemporary<br />

media environments work differently from those in the past.<br />

You will ask and discover the answer to questions like: “What<br />

happens to our concepts of community, memory, knowledge, the<br />

individual, place and team with each new media innovation?”<br />

Philosophy (B.A.)<br />

Ever wonder why? Philosophy is the study of fundamental<br />

questions about the world and your place in it. As a student of<br />

philosophy at <strong>Trent</strong>, you can explore questions about the nature<br />

of reality, the meaning of human existence, ethics, and the limits<br />

of knowledge. Studying philosophy gives you the opportunity to<br />

develop advanced skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, and<br />

communication.<br />
