1 min Call to order Kathleen Kathleen shared with the committee the <strong>SEAC</strong> and visitors<br />
guidelines.<br />
2 min Guest Introductions Kathleen Stephanie McGraw, AP at Bowie<br />

2 min Directors’ Report Vicki Raul has reached out to Olivia Hernandez for the ELLAC<br />
Strategic Plan and requested a member of their group attend<br />
our <strong>SEAC</strong> meetings and possibly become a member.<br />
Stephanie was invited by Raul to attend our meeting and<br />
consider becoming a member of the committee filling the<br />
secondary principal vacancy.<br />
60 min Standards presentation Susan Armstrong Susan provided a PowerPoint based on the special education<br />
standards. The standards can be found online at<br />

Standards<br />
It was recommended that Susan and her team give the<br />
presentation to Raul Nuques, the director of special<br />
education.<br />
Gerard recommended that Susan put together a proposal<br />
and present it to the special education department.<br />
Susan indicated that she could revise the presentation she<br />
previously presented.<br />
25 min CPR presentation Kathy Palomo Kathy provided an overview of the program and CPR<br />

material, including:<br />

Feb. 26, 2013 Principals’ Weekly memo that had been<br />
sent to all principals offering a brief overview of the<br />
program and content information<br />

Program Activities<br />
30 min Question for Dr. Carstarphen A response card was handed out to all <strong>SEAC</strong> committee<br />
members with the following question:<br />
‘What do you believe is the biggest problem that A<strong>ISD</strong> is<br />
currently facing?’<br />
There was round table discussion, and Melinda gathered all<br />
the responses to formulate a response that offered the<br />
collective opinion of the committee.<br />
Response:<br />
Inclusion would be significantly improved within the district if<br />
the following were addressed<br />
1. Communication is lacking between teachers within<br />
schools; among schools in the district; and between<br />
parents and teachers<br />
2. Accountability is needed to ensure standards are<br />
being met by teachers at each campus<br />
3. The district needs to eliminate ineffective teachers and<br />
empower the teachers who are making a difference<br />
