The Morris 100 Canberra, organised by
the Register of New South Wales, is a
celebration of the centenaries of both the
naming of Canberra and also the production
of the first Morris automobile. Convoys of
Morris vehicles will arrive in Canberra on 19
April, 100 years after the production of the
first Morris.
The highlight of the event will be the
Morris 100 Canberra Display of Vehicles
on the Patrick White Lawns adjacent to the
National Library of Australia on 20 April.
Entry to the display is free. Other events
during the weekend, 19 - 22 April, include
scenic drives around Canberra, and two
celebratory dinners.
Following on from the weekend, two
five-day ‘Battle of the Sites' tours will
be conducted, where entrants will visit
those towns which vied for selection as
the nation’s new capital more than 100
years ago.
