Around Town
SunCruz Casino Adventure
Welcome aboard! That’s what you will hear
when you board Jacksonville’s popular floating
casino. I anxiously took the cruise and found it
to be a fun venture with lots of things going on
the entire cruise. You don’t have to be especially
good at card games, watching is almost as fun
and of course, playing the slots is even more
fun. I found there was something for everyone
and delicious food in a great atmosphere with a
beautiful view of the water! When you add a few
drinks, good company and a little entertainment
while you cruise out of port, you understand
what they mean when they talk about the
“Mayport experience.” When you leave the
dock, you enjoy the beautiful scenery while you
cruise out 3-miles, when the first dice can role.
The best thing about the experience was that I
didn’t break the bank, which was important to
me! I do, however, like to have fun and found
the SunCruz adventure is for everyone from
big spenders to conservative players. I wanted
something different to do on a Friday evening,
and I found Sun Cruz to be new and refreshing.
I heard a lot of talk about Boom-Boom Bingo
and the chance to win $250,000, so off I went
in search of…let’s say more adventure…well ok,
more money!
Since 2001, SunCruz has been operating in
Mayport and is owned and operated by Oceans
Casino Cruise, which has been around since
the mid-90’s. What we have here in Mayport
is only one piece of a large fleet of seven ships
in locations such as Port Canaveral, Daytona,
Key Largo, Myrtle Beach, Palm Beach,
Treasure Island and Jacksonville. SunCruz has
entertained over 2-million passengers since
2001 and is the world’s largest gamming offshore
operation with over 1,000 employees and
head quarters in Dania Beach, FL.
The seven ships encompass over 3,000 slot
machines, 80 gamming tables, 7-resturants,
7 entertainment stations and 17 bars. If you
combined this into one building it would be
like going to a major casino in Las Vegas. The
SunCruz in Jacksonville offers the only full
gaming in the area with over 285 slots from
$0.05 to $100.00, Blackjack, Live Poker, Craps
(5X Odds), Roulette, Let it Ride and Mini
Baccarat. While on the ship you will be serviced
with FREE drinks while gamming, hot lunch
or dinner and free parking. Currently, the ship
and SunCruz are host to the 2nd annual World
Offshore Poker Tournament. You can participate
in this great event with the opportunity to win
over $500,000 in cash and prizes. The winners
in the Jacksonville area will be playing, along
with others via satellite rounds, now through
October. The winner has the chance to win
$100,000 including a seat in the 2008 World
Series of Poker in Las Vegas Baby. The ship
is fun and I recommend you go check it out
yourself. The day cruises are Mon-Fri: 11am-
4pm and Sat: 11:30am-4:30pm. Evenings cruises
are Sun-Thurs: 7pm-12am, Fri: 7:30pm-1am and
Sat: 7pm-12:30am. For cruise information and
details call (904) 249-9300; tell them Judd sent
you and get $5 in casino cash.
