Meeting at 2010 Measurement Science Conference (MSC)
MEETING MINUTES
March 25, 2010
Call to order: The quarterly ASQ-MQD meeting was called to order at 6:00pm, PST by Dilip Shah. The
meeting requirements for a quorum are met.
Roll Call: The following persons were in attendance: Phil Painchaud, Dilip Shah (Chair-Elect), Graeme
Payne (Nominating Chair), Heather Wade (MQD Secretary), Earl Paazig. In attendance by phone starting
at 6:07pm: Elias Monreal (Membership Chair & Voice of Customer Representative).
Absent: Jay Bucher (Chair), Chris Grachanen (Treasurer), Leta Thrasher (ASQ Administration)
(editor’s note: Jay was representing MQD at the ASQ Section 1303—State of University of Iowa Section
meeting in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, during this teleconference call; the theme for the evening was
“Tribute to Measurement/Metrology”.)
Agenda Issues
MQD Financials
Chris Grachanen sent a copy of the financials by e-mail prior to this meeting. A copy from the e-mail are
included below:
MQD accounts as of February 26, 2010 are;
Checking Balance at $92,156.44
Money Market Balance at $79,739.33.
Chris recently paid the following MQD bills for March 2010;
ASQ HQ – Billing and other charges = $732.93.
NCSLI - Multifunction DVDs + Joe Simmons Scholarship + ASEE Conference Booth = $4,544.44
Chris has NCSLI invoice for breakdown cost, includes ASEE (in Louisville, KY). Georgia Harris &
Elisabeth Gentry (from NIST) and Gloria Neely (from NCSLI) will be in attendance.
MQD Display Booths
Dilip highlights the advantages of the mini-booth; such as being able to carry on a plane (which saves
~$300 in shipping costs). Jay currently has the bigger booth. Dilip has a 3 rd booth (mid-sized and made
of Mylar). He is awaiting RMA from booth media-makers (this was a booth that was incorrectly made,
and has since been replaced). Dilip will take an MQD booth from ASQ warehouse to ASQ World Conference
on Quality & Improvement (WCQI) in May 2010 in St. Louis, MO. Graeme will take minibooth
from MSC for regional NCSLI meetings for April and May. He will then return it to Dilip.
Graeme remarks that the booth media is difficult to remove from carrying case. Dilip agrees that it is a
snug fit but not difficult.
ASQ-CCT Survey
Elias reports that he is behind in uploading the ASQ-CCT survey for inclusion in the next newsletter.
Approximately 52 to 60% in ASQ-MQD membership do not have an ASQ certification. ~600 people are
pending for section payment thru ASQ. Memberships may have lapsed.
ACTION: Goal is to upload the survey in Q2 2010.
Next Teleconference
The next ASQ-MQD teleconference will be in May 2010.
