An overview of HEC funded Development Projects at selected
Engineering Universities
Research suggests that public policy plays an important role in shaping national innovative capacity by
determining human capital investments and creating incentives for innovation. Countries that have increased
their innovative capacities have invested heavily in science and engineering education. In economies such as
Pakistan engineering universities are the main drivers of nascent industrial sector and hence assume great
importance. They groom the manpower required by industry and provide the vitally important universityindustry
linkage for product development and research. This report summarizes the efforts made by HEC to
spearhead the promotion of research and excellence in learning by providing the necessary academic
infrastructure, networking and IT facilities and research equipment at selected engineering universities of
Rawalpindi\Islamabad and Taxila. The universities included in this sample are:
1. Air University
