Coach Maker’s Pattern Book containing<br />
22 plates depicting 51 superb coloured<br />
illustrations of painting designs for spokes,<br />
each spoke with details of colour and design<br />
which are 14ins long x 4ins wide, length of<br />
spokes 12ins x 2ins. Book is bound in green<br />
cloth boards with gilt lettering and the<br />
Royal Arms. The reverse of each plate has<br />
advertising and testimonials, all in excellent<br />
condition (crease to front board)<br />

condition. Inscribed inside is a piece from<br />
the Health & Safety in the Workplace ‘it<br />
is suggested whilst working with lead<br />
based materials to “wear a handkerchief<br />
of the mouth and to thoroughly wash your<br />
moustache before eating”’!<br />
1639 Felton, William, Coach Maker: A Treatise on<br />
Carriages, four parts bound in two volumes,<br />
2nd edition 1796 containing 60 plates of<br />
carriages, harness, fittings and accessories,<br />
etc., seven plates folding, re-bound in half<br />
calf, 8vo and all in good condition. The<br />
illustrations depict designs for most of<br />
the principal carriages of the day, they<br />
also show illustrations of springs, perches,<br />
cloths, lamps, trunks, hat boxes and types<br />
of harness. The most comprehensive book<br />
on carriages, harness, construction, prices,<br />
